Ireland vs Georgia
Ireland will be pleased with the hard fought point they picked up in Serbia as Martin O’Neill’s men look towards qualifying in two years time. The Green Army will fancy their chances against this weak Georgia team, a side who have never qualified for the World Cup. I expect the atmosphere at the Aviva Stadium as Ireland win their first group match on their route to Russia.
Italy vs Spain
After their surprise lost to Italy in the last 16 of the European Championships Spain will be looking for revenge over an Italy side who seem to be lacking the fight they had over the summer. Following Conte’s departure to Chelsea the Azzurri are now coached by Ventura, a manager with plenty of experience, never at the highest level however. La Roja also have a new coach in the likes of Lopetegui who has big steps to follow after the retirement of Del Bosque. Italy squeaked past Israel in their opening game while Spain knocked eight past a hapless Lichtenstein. The home side a lacking depth hence why I am going for an away win.
France vs Bulgaria
Following their heart breaking loss in the European Cup final against Portugal on their home soil France will be taking nothing for granted. Losing in the final is never easy but will undoubtedly be a lesson for Deschamp’s brilliant young squad. Bulgaria won a thrilling seven goal encounter over Luxembourg in Sofia however I doubt they have what it takes to trouble the French at the Stade de France.

England vs Malta
What a sad couple of month’s it’s been for the England fans first seeing their side knocked out to tiny Iceland in the Euros only now for recently appointed coach Big Sam Allardyce being forced to resign in the most scandalous of circumstances. Despite the off the field problems caretaker manager Gareth Southgate and his side should have little problems seeing off minnows Malta at Wembley stadium. The visitors have a disastrous away record hence it’s only a matter of how many the Three Lions can knock past the shaky Maltese defense.

Germany vs Czech Republic
Germany got their World Cup qualifying campaign off in a typically efficient manner as they downed Norway 0-3 in Oslo. The reigning World Cup champions are still licking their wounds after being second best to France in the Euros this summer. The Czechs were held by Northern Ireland in their opening game and I am predicting a tough outing in Hamburg. Comfortable home win expected.
