Despite putting up a valiant fight and almost securing an important away point at the San Siro the newcomers lost out following a Lapadula late strike. Fellow Serie A newcomers Pescara who secured an important point over Cagliari however remain in the bottom three as they look like favourites to go down along with Crotone. I expect a close game and a score draw.

Sampdoria vs Lazio
Sampdoria were superb as they beat a high flying Torino side 2-0 in front of their ecstatic fans to climb up to 10th in the standings while Lazio superb run of form came to an end when they lost out in a heated derby with local rivals Roma. The home side will be putting up a fight and I believe they have enough to hold out for a draw.

Cagliari vs Napoli
Cagliari were moments away an important away win over lowly Pescara despite playing for almost an hour with ten-men. Napoli swept past a disorganised Inter side scoring two goals in the first six minutes to put the game to bed before it even starting. I am backing Sarri’s men to win in Sardinia .

Atalanta vs Udinese
This has been a great season for Atalanta following a number of very disappointing seasons as the Nerazzurri now proudly sit 6th in the standings despite losing 3-1 at the Juventus Stadium. Udinese were once one of Serie A’s toughest sides however have gone astray in recent seasons and continue to struggle this term. I am backing a home win.

Empoli were pummelled on their travels to Sassuolo to remain just a handful of points above the bottom three. Even though these two sides are separated by a few points the home side’s quality should see them through.

Palermo have won just a single game this season losing once again in Florence to remain rooted to the bottom of the Serie A standings. Chievo played out a dull 0-0 draw, with front man Birsa missing a first half penalty, when Genoa visited on Monday. I expect a close game which will end all square.

Saturday afternoon sees the clash between the two sides from Turin as Il Granata welcome their eternal rivals the Old Lady to old Stadio Olimpico. The home side will be delighted with their season to date while Juventus are four points clear at the top and on course to win their sixth consecutive Scudetto. You can bet the home side will put up a hell of a fight however Allegri’s men should win this.

Inter’s inconsistent season continued as their backline was caught napping twice in the first six minutes of the game as they lost 3-0 in Naples just a few days after beating Fiorentina 4-2 at home. Genoa were lucky not to lose to Chievo on Monday night and will have to be wary of this bruised Inter side. I reckon the visitors have enough fight in them to hold out for a draw.

Both these sides won their respective games this weekend after an inconsistent season for both squads who so far have failed to mimic last season’s impressive form. The home side will fancy their chances over Sassuolo on Monday afternoon, who’ve won just a single game on the road.

Roma came out on top of a heated Roman derby over Lazio thanks to a couple of goals from midfielders Strootman and Nainggolan in a game which unfortunately showed the ugly side of football following a number of nasty tackles and bust ups. Milan continue to win as Montella proves the importance of team spirit and organisation. I predict an exciting game by Roma’s quality should see them through on Monday night.
