Cagliari Vs Sampdoria
Cagliari put on a fantastic display to leave Florence with an unlikely point last weekend while Sampdoria were demolished at home against rivals Genoa. Considering both these teams’ form I’m going for a home win.
Prediction 1-0
Chievo Vs Udinese
Chievo were soundly beaten on their travels to the Olimpico on Sunday afternoon as Lazio knocked three past their hapless defense while Udinese will be kicking themselves for not securing all three points when Bologna visited. Guidolin’s men are renowned to be slow starters and that is why I predict an exciting score draw.
Prediction 2-2
Genoa Vs Livorno
Genoa fans will be delighted with their team’s convincing victory over city rivals Sampdoria as they secured their first three points of the season. Following the home sides poor couple of seasons they know that they will need to remain grounded and win maximum points when Livorno make the two hour journey up the coast. The visitors will also be buoyed following their good start to the season and have already collected six points, three of which coming from an impressive home win over Catania.
Prediction 2-1
Sassuolo Vs Inter
Sassuolo are just one of two teams who have yet to secure a single point this season. They have conceded eight goals and only scored one in their opening three games in what could be a very short lived experience for them in the Italian top flight. Inter put on a determined display in the Derby D’Italia last weekend to continue on their positive run of form under new coach Mazzarri. The Nerazzuri must now maintain their momentum if they are going to stand any chance of playing Champions League football next season.
Prediction 0-2
Atalanta Vs Fiorentina
Atalanta were soundly defeated on their travels to Napoli last weekend and played the last 15 minutes with ten men following the sending off of Cigarini. They have been far from spectacular this season and will need to improve drastically or else will undoubtedly get caught in a relegation scrape come May. La Viola had a weekend to forget as they were not only held at home but will also be without the services of Mario Gomez for up to six weeks. I predict another draw here for Montella’s men.
Prediction 1-1
Bologna Vs Torino
Bologna will be pleased to have secured a point on their travels to Florence last weekend following a beautiful Diamanti free-kick to equalize for the visitors while Torino will feel aggrieved for not securing a vital win over Milan after the Rossoneri were awarded a penalty in the last minute of stoppage time. Home win expected here.
Prediction 2-1
Catania Vs Parma
Catania seem like a shadow of the team that finished 8th in the standings last season as they have yet to secure a point and will look at this home fixture as a chance to kick start their season against a Parma side who have not been much better and who have only secured one point in the opening three Serie A Gameweeks.
Prediction 2-0
Juventus Vs Verona
Juventus were held at the San Siro last weekend and were saved by their star man Vidal in a match were they struggled to break down an organised Inter side. The Old Lady were also held on their travels to Denmark in their mid-week Champions League tie after failing to take numerous chances. Verona have had a good start following their return to Serie A and have won both home fixtures. Despite their positive start I predict that they will be leaving the Juventus stadium empty handed.
Prediction 2-0
Roma Vs Lazio
Roma are just one of two side who have secured maximum points in their opening three Serie A fixtures and will be determined to make it four when they entertain cross-town rivals at the Olimpico, in what is set to be an explosive derby. Lazio have also had a positive start considering their congested fixture list which included the Italian Super Cup and also a Europa League fixture on Thursday night. Considering Roma’s form and Lazio’s slight fatigue I am backing Totti to lead his men to victory.
Prediction 2-1
Milan Vs Napoli
On Sunday evening two of Italy’s top sides do battle in what is expected to be a fantastic game of football as Allegri’s slow starting Rossoneri welcome Benitez’s high flying Partnepoi to the San Siro. The home side have had a far from perfect start and left it very late in their last Serie A fixture to secure a point on their travels to Bologna and also relied on a fortuitous Zapata strike to secure three vital Champions League points in their first match of the group stages against a determined Celtic side. On the other hand, Napoli have had a magical start to their campaign. Not only have they won all domestic fixtures but on Wednesday night tore apart last seasons’ Champions League Runners-up. I don’t think many defenses in Europe can deal with Napoli’s attacking form at the moment, including Milan’s brittle side.
Prediction 1-2
