Catania Vs Udinese
Catania were downed by a last minute goal against the reigning champions in Turin, while Udinese did well to hold out for a draw when they entertained Roma on Saturday night. With just a point dividing these two teams you can bet this will be an exciting encounter, as both these teams are still in with a chance of securing European football next season.
Bologna Vs Juventus
Bologna pulled off theĀ surpriseĀ result of Week 28 by leaving the San Siro with three points after defeating a poor Inter side. Juventus took another vital step to defending their title and will thank Giaccherini for finding a way past a determined Catania defence as they went 9 points clear in the standings. This will be a close match, with Bologna putting up stern fight however I reckon La Juve will have enough to win.
Siena VsĀ Cagliari
Siena did extremely well to beat fellow relegation candidates Palermo in Sicily and are now just two points away from safety. Cagliari defeated Sampdoria at home thanks a hat-trick from hit-man Guerrero and will be confident that they can leave Siena with at least a point. With Siena so close to safety I am backing them to take all three points here.
Napoli VsĀ Atalanta
Napoli’s Serie A hopes have all but faded following a defeat in Chievo, where their usually effective front line missed chance after chance, including a Cavani penalty, which was well saved by Puggioni. Napoli have to win this fixture even if it’s just to keep the pressure on Juventus.
Pescara VsĀ Chievo
Pescara were downed by a Denis braceĀ againstĀ Atalanta and remain among the bottom three, while Chievo were ruthless as they made Napoli pay for their wastefulness. I believe that Pescara’s fate is finallyĀ sealedĀ and they will soon be returning to Serie B following only one season of top flight football.
Fiorentina Vs Genoa
La Viola took full advantage of Lazio’s poor form as they left Rome with three points and renewed hopes of securing Europa League football next season. Genoa failed to maintain their positive form as they were lost at home to the in form Rossoneri. EvenĀ thoughĀ Genoa will fight tooth and nail to leave Florence withĀ at leastĀ a point I reckon they will leave with nothing.
Sampdoria VsĀ Inter
Due to poor weather conditions this match was postponed and will now take place last this week. Considering La Samp’s general poor form and lack of creativity, and a more resurgent Inter side who were unlucky to lose to Juventus on the weekend, I am going for an Inter win.
Torino VsĀ Lazio
Torino were helpless as theirĀ defenceĀ caved in as they conceded four in under 15 minutes at the Tardini stadium. Lazio were also poor and have now dropped to 6th in the standings. This will be a close encounter with the team from Rome also having a Thursday night fixture.
Prediction 2-1
Milan Vs Palermo
Milan did extremely well to beat a stubborn Genoa side on their travels while Palermo dug their own graves as they failed lost to Siena at home. Milan will need to pick themselves up following a heavy defeat in Barcelona mid week. There can only be one outcome in this match.
Roma Vs Parma
Roma will be pleased to have left Udinese with a point while Parma left it late to see off a tricky Torino side. With Roma still with a chance of playing European football next season they must pull all the stops to secure maximum points.
