Juventus vs Sassuolo
As predicted Juventus proved too much for a battling Atalanta side to maintain their three point lead over 2nd place Napoli while Sassuolo’s good run of form continued as they outwitted Milan at the Mapei Stadium. Allegri’s men will have the second leg of the Champions League in mind however they should still prove too strong for the visitors.
Empoli vs Sampdoria
After a superb run of form in the first half of the season Empoli just can’t seem to find their feet in 2016 as they have won just one Serie A and they slowly start sliding down the standings. Sampdoria were clinical as they knocked three past a struggling Verona side to provide some breathing room above the bottom three. Close one to call but I reckon a draw is on the cards.
Inter vs Bologna
While not rock solid at the back Inter were efficient in front of goal as they downed a struggling Palermo side 3-1 at the San Siro to remain five points away from the all important third place Champions League spot. Bologna will be kicking themselves after allowing a weak Carpi side to leave the Renato Dall’Ara with a point. This is another must win for Mancini’s side.
Chievo vs Milan
Despite taking an early lead Chievo were ultimately undone by a superior Napoli side while Milan were outplayed by an in form Sassuolo side. The Rossoneri are fighting hard to secure Europa League football however I reckon the home side will hold out for a draw.
Carpi vs Frosinone
Carpi will be pleased with the hard earned point in Bologna meaning they are now five points from safety while Frosinone’s clinical finishing was the difference as they beat Udinese 2-0 in Rome to move just a point from safety. This is a crucial game for these Serie A newcomers who are both fighting for survival and I predict an exciting draw.
Fiorentina vs Verona
Fiorentina stood little chance on their travels to Rome as they were comfortably beaten 4-1 after the home side rushed into a 3-0 first half lead. Verona were also comfortably beaten on their home soil by a more organised Sampdoria side, leaving Verona 9 points from safety at the bottom of the standings.
Genoa vs Torino
A lone Rigoni goal gifted Genoa with three vital points as the side from Liguria look to secure Serie A football for next season sooner rather then later. Torino’s front man Immobile missed a first half penalty and his team eventually paid the price as Lazio scored a late equaliser to deny Il Toro three vital points. I reckon the home side can win this.
Udinese vs Roma
Despite a number of good performances Udinese were undone by a more efficient Frosinone side and are now just 4 points from safety. Roma swept aside Fiorentina to the delight of the home crowd as Spalletti’s men push to secure the vital third spot in the table. Considering Roma’s tough mid-week fixture at the Bernabeau the home side will fancy their chances of holding out for a draw.
Lazio vs Atalanta
Lazio fought back in Turin to earn an important point as Pioli’s men look to salvage what has been a disappointed season for the Biancocelesti. Despite a good fight Atalanta failed to really test a superior Juventus side and will need to improve drastically unless they are to avoid a relegation scrap come May. The home side should have enough to win this.
Palermo vs Napoli
Palermo continue to struggle as they were downed at the San Siro by a better Inter side meaning the Siclians have now been dragged into the relegation fight as they are now just one point above the bottom three. Napoli came from behind to win 3-1 against Chievo to maintain their chase over league leaders Juventus. Visitors should win this over their Southern rivals.
