Cagliari vs Sassuolo
Cagliari showed real character to score a late goal and secure a vital point on their travels to Udine. The Sardinians are two points from safety and will need a good run of form if they are to ensure Serie A survival. Sassuolo put on an impressive footballing display to hold out for a draw in a six goal thriller in Genoa, with front man Berardi scoring a brace. The visitors have been on a positive run of form recently, which has seen them climb up the standings and I predict a draw is on the cards.
Lazio vs Milan
Despite an impressive run of games Lazio were beaten at the Olimpico by a sharper Napoli side, which has seen them slip down to 5th in the standings. Milan’s poor season continued as they lost at home to Atalanta piling even more pressure on Inzaghi’s side, as he desperately tries to bolster his ranks before the transfer window closes next week. Despite Pioli’s lengthy injury list I predict his side should have enough to down the struggling Rossoneri.
Verona vs Atalanta
Verona conceded a total of 10 goals in 4 days when they faced Juventus in both the Italian Cup and Serie A. Atalanta pulled off a shock 0-1 win at the San Siro in what was a determined display over a toothless Milan side. Just one point separates these two sides in what I envisage will end in a score draw.
Inter vs Torino
Mancini’s side have still not found their feet despite their solid home win over Genoa two weeks ago, as they were outplayed by an organised Empoli squad and had to settle for a draw. Torino almost threw away a two goal lead but veteran front man Maxi Lopez scored a late winner to down Serie A newcomers Cesena 2-3. This is a must win for the Nerazzurri if they are to stand any chance of Champions League football next season.
Juventus vs Chievo
Juventus were sublime as they swept aside Verona at the Juventus stadium to move 5 points clear at the top of the Serie A standings. Despite a desperate comeback Chievo’s efforts were undone by a late goal from front man Khouma Babacar. Comfortable home win expected for the reigning champions.
Parma vs Cesena
Parma’s miserable season continued as they lost at home to high flying Sampdoria to remain rooted to the bottom of the Serie A table. Cesena have been equally poor so far this term and sit on equal points with the Tardini outfit. The homeside’s top flight experience should give them enough to win this, in what is a do-or-die game for both these sides.
Sampdoria vs Palermo
La Samp’s superb season continued under the guidance of Sinisa Mihajlovic, who’s side currently third spot in the standings, joint with Napoli. Palermo have done considerably well so far this season, considering they only just returned to the Serie A, and put on a determined display to hold Roma to a draw in Sicily. I predict another win for the home side.
Fiorentina vs Roma
Fiorentina showed great resolve to secure a late victory over Chievo to remain in the hunt of European football next season. Roma left Sicily frustrated after conceding an early goal following a defensive error and only managing to secure a point. I expect an exciting game between these two sides who love to play attacking football. Score draw expected.
Empoli vs Udinese
Serie A newcomers Empoli were extremely orgniased to hold Inter at bay and secure an important point as they moved 3 points above the relegation zone. After scoring two goals in two minutes Udinese conceded a late penalty to drop two vital home points in what has been a positive season for Stramaccioni’s side. I predict another draw on Monday afternoon.
Napoli vs Genoa
Napoli were absolutely solid in the early Sunday afternoon fixture to beat an in form Lazio side in Rome and maintain their third place position. Genoa were held to a 3-3 draw and have now not won in their last 5 outings following their superb start of their campaign. Home win for Benitez’s side expected.
