Empoli Vs Roma

Empoli were comfortably beaten on their travels to the Stadio Friuli and I reckon they will be in for a long, hard season following their return to the Serie A. The newcomers are in for another tough match when the mighty Roma pay a visit. Rudi Garcia’s men got their campaign off to a flying start after downing a strong Fiorentina side 2-0 at the Olimpico. I predict another victory for the Romans.

Prediction 0-2

Juventus Vs Udinese

Despite looking sluggish, reigning champions saw off a stubborn Chievo side to start their title defence with a win. All eyes will be on the Old Lady in the coming weeks as everyone waits to see the effect of the departure of coach Conte during the summer break. Allegri has a tough job on his hands and Udinese will be his first real test. Experienced tactician Guidolin will revel in this challenge as he and his team look to better on last terms poor finish. Le Zebrette got off to a good start and will see this unsettled Juve side as a chance to snatch a point. Home win expected.

Prediction 2-1

Sampdoria Vs Torino

Sampdoria were held on their travels to Sicily in Gamesweek 1 in what was a hotly contested game against newly promoted Palermo, who looked strong. Torino fought hard and kept a sluggish Inter team at bay in what was a boring, goalless draw. Il Toro are looking rather toothless upfront after the departures of Immobile and Cerci over the summer, who together scored an astonishing 35 Serie A goals last season, hence they might have to settle for a mid-table finish this season. Mihajlovic might fancy his side’s chances here and I am backing them to win.

Prediction 2-1

Cagliari Vs Atalanta

These two sides were involved in draws in their respective opening fixtures of the 2014/2015 Serie A campaign. Cagliari will be pleased with the hard earned point picked up at Sassuolo, while Atalanta would have fancied their chances when Verona made the short trip to Bergamo, but had to settle for a goalless draw.

Prediction 1-1

Fiorentina Vs Genoa

Despite their best efforts La Viola were unable to penetrate Roma’s solid defence and left the Olimpico empty handed, however coach Montella will take courage from his side’s brave performance. Genoa were equally determined as they were beaten by a late De Guzman strike when Napoli made the long journey north. I predict that this will be an entertaining fixtures with plenty of attacking football.

Prediction 2-1

Inter Vs Sassuolo

Inter seem to be in for another frustrating season as coach Mazzarri insists on playing a very defensive 3-6-1 tactic, with 7 defensive players. I reckon Sassuolo will be in for another tough season, however now having a season of Serie A experience under their belt, should be able to avoid the relegation scrap come May. The Nerazzurri have enough to win this, though have to be careful of Sassuolo front man Zaza who has been in top form for club and country.

Prediction 1-0

Lazio Vs Cesena

Lazio were brushed aside by a far more organised Milan side at the San Siro. The Biancocelesti will be looking to bounce back when newcomers Cesena, fresh from an impressive win over Parma, visit the Olimpico. Despite Lazio’s stronger squad their coach Pioli will have to use all his experience to ensure his side do not drop any points. Lazio to win their first three points of the season.

Prediction 2-0

Parma Vs Milan

Parma were stunned in their opening fixture when newly promoted side Cesena beat them at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi. Following a great run of form last season Parma finished in 6th and Donadoni will need to rally his troops if they are to avoid another defeat when this improved Milan side visit the Tardini. The Rossoneri are now under the stewardship of former legend Inzaghi and put on a solid display as they saw off Lazio at the San Siro. I am sticking my neck out and backing Milan to win this.

Prediction 0-1

Napoli Vs Chievo

Napoli bounced back from a disappointing early elimination from the Champions League by beating a tough Genoa side on their travels, courtesy of a winner late into injury time. Benitez will be targeting a strong domestic run in order to secure the first Scudetto for the Southern club in almost 25 years. Chievo were extremely unlucky to be beaten by a poor Juventus side following an early own goal. Comfortable home win predicted.

Prediction 3-0

Verona Vs Palermo

This time last year Verona shocked the Serie A with their fantastic return and extremely impressive, free flowing football. Mandorlini has seen two of his hottest front men move onto greener pastures this year and it seems as though they have struggled ever since. Palermo made a positive return to Italian top flight football after holding Sampdoria to a draw. The Sicilians will feel let down after allowing La Samp to snatch a point in the dieing minutes and will be in for a tough match in Verona.

Prediction 2-1
