Palermo Vs Sassuolo
As predicted Palermo were held on their travels to Turin last Saturday afternoon as they climbed further up the standings to 11th, seven points clear of the bottom three. Sassuolo pulled off one of the surprise results of Week 14 with a well earned draw in Rome, after taking an early first half lead thanks to a Zaza double. Expect a close encounter between two in form sides, which I predict will end in a score draw.
Lazio Vs Atalanta
As expected, Lazio won at the Tardini 1-2 in what was a hard fought affair against a Parma side who currently occupy bottom place. Atalanta mounted a superb second half comeback to secure an important 3-2 win over lowly Cesena thanks to 2 quick fire goals. I predict a close tie at the Olimpico but a home win.
Juventus Vs Sampdoria
Juventus were held in a tough match in Florence and considering that Allergri’s side understandably had their minds on their critical Champions League game on Tuesday night, it can be considered a good result for the reigning Serie A champions. Sampdoria maintained their impressive run of form with a superb 1-3 win on their travels to Verona and are now just one point behind third place Genoa. La Samp might fancy their chances against a tired Juventus side but I predict the champs will have enough to win this.
Genoa Vs Roma
After two seasons on the verge of relegation Genoa have pulled off a minor miracle this season as they beat Milan to climb to third in the Serie A standings. I have no doubt that Roma’s coach Garcia will be concerned about his men’s chances, considering their exhausting, congested fixture list, including a decisive mid-week Champions League encounter. I am backing the home side to win this!
Parma Vs Cagliari
Both these sides were beaten at home over the weekend with Parma losing to Lazio despite taking an early lead while Cagliari will be kicking themselves after losing to fellow relegation candidates Chievo. Key game for both these sides as they struggle to win vital points and climb out of the drop zone. Bore draw expected.
Udinese Vs Verona
It was a sweet return for Stramaccioni as his Udinese side took full advantage of Inter’s dire second half to score two and win at the San Siro 1-2 to lump further misery on the Nerazzurri. Verona’s poor form continued as they lost at home and remained just two points above the relegation zone. Home win expected.
Cesena Vs Fiorentina
Despite taking an early lead Cesena somehow managed to leave Atalanta empty handed in what would have been an important point for the Serie A newcomers. Montella will be delighted with his side’s hard fought draw with Juventus as they look to maintain a good run of form. I am backing La Viola to win this.
Milan Vs Napoli
Despite a number of positive results Milan were brought back down to earth by a hungrier Genoa side. The Rossoneri have a tough challenge on their hands as an attacking minded Napoli side pay them a visit on Sunday night. Benitez’s men score goals for fun but have also conceded far too many this season, a problem which has seen them stranded behind Juventus and Roma. I predict an exciting game of football which will end in a score draw.
Empoli Vs Torino
Monday evening sees newly promoted Empoli take on a struggling Torino side and with just two points separating these two sides you can be sure that this will be a close affair. Despite Empoli’s hard earned point in Napoli last weekend, I don’t think they have enough to win this.
Chievo Vs Inter
Chievo will be delighted with their deserved 0-2 win over Cagliari in Sardinia, which saw the Veneto side climb two points about the bottom three. Inter squandered a series of chances and failed to put the game to bed in the first half only to concede two in the second to lose 1-2 to Udinese. Despite clear improvements upfront, the Nerazzurri back line is conceding far too many goals and this will be a major concern for Mancini. I predict a score draw.
