Sassuolo Vs Verona
Sassuolo rode their luck and pulled off a surprising victory in Turin to heap further misery on Torino, who missed an early penalty. The home side seem to have found their feet in the Serie A this season, considering this is only the club’s second year of Serie A football and a pretty tough campaign last year. The same cannot be said for the visitors, who also returned to Italian top flight football last season and got off to a real flyer, but have struggled to find any sort of form this term. The momentum is with the home side and I am backing them to win.
Chievo Vs Lazio
Chievo were rewarded for their brave, attacking football by leaving the tough Stadio Friuli with an unexpected point, despite of which they remain among the bottom three. Lazio were outclassed at the Olimpico by a much more efficient Juventus side, and a Paul Pogba brace, as they slipped down the standings to 6th. I predict a close encounter between these twos sides and a score draw.
Milan Vs Udinese
Milan were pretty sluggish in the Derby della Madoninna as they were held at the San Siro by rivals Inter. Despite taking an early lead the Rossoneri failed to impress and had to settle for a score draw. Udinese’s fantastic start to the season seems to be running out of momentum as they have now gone four games without a win after being held at home to lowly Chievo. Expect a close encounter in Milan and I am backing Inzaghi’s men to win this.
Cagliari Vs Fiorentina
Cagliari put on a superb attacking display to seal a point in Naples in what was an exciting 3-3 draw. Zeman’s men remain two points above the relegation zone and require similar performances if they are to avoid a late relegation scrap. Following a recent run of poor form Fiorentina showed signs of improvement in an important away win over Verona. Montella’s men will have to be on their guard in Sardinia and I predict an exciting score draw.
Cesena Vs Genoa
In what has been a tough start to their campaign, Serie A newcomers Cesena came close to securing what would have been just their second win of the season, were it not for an own goal in the final 15 minutes of the game. Genoa have had a superb start to their season and deservedly sit 5th in the standings, however did not get everything their own way on Monday night and were saved by the goalkeeping heroics of Perin to settle for a point. I am backing Genoa to win this.
Empoli Vs Atalanta
Considering that Empoli have only just returned to the Serie A and most pundits will agree that they have done well so far, as they sit in 14th place. The newcomers face a tough challenge when a tough Atalanta side pay them a visit. Even though the Nerazzurri are a few points below Empoli they are a determined bunch and you can expect a close tie. I predict a bore draw.
Palermo Vs Parma
Palermo have settled back well into the Serie A following a year in the lower division and are proving to be a tough nut to crack for most opposition. Following a superb 2012/2013 campaign Parma have been extremely poor with just six points to their name in the standings. Donadoni and his men seem completely lost at the moment and I predict another loss for the Gialloblu in Sicily.
Juventus Vs Torino
Juventus outclassed a hapless Lazio side at the Olimpico to maintain their three point lead at the top of the Serie A standings. Torino, like Parma, continue to struggle following an impressive campaign last season, their latest defeat coming at home to Sassuolo. Despite their crucial Champions League game on Wednesday night I expect the Old Lady to have no problem with dismissing their hometown rivals.
Roma Vs Inter
Despite a superb domestic run of form Roma seem to be lacking that crucial bit of luck in Europe after they surrendered an early lead to leave Moscow with a point. None the less Garcia’s men will be brimming with confidence when Inter visit Rome following their dull score draw over Milan. It is clear Mancini’s men will need more then just luck if they are to return to Milan with any points. I predict a home win on Sunday night.
Sampdoria Vs Napoli
La Samp failed to take their chances and were almost beaten by Cesena if was not for a late own goal by the home side. Napoli will be kicking themselves after letting a two goal lead slip as they eventually held by Cagliari in what was a six goal thriller. No doubt Benitez will blame the two week international break for his mens’ loss in concentration. I am sticking my neck out and backing the Partenopei to win this.
