Serie A predictions week 7

Roma vs Lazio

Kick-off: Week 7, Saturday, 29 September

Second best match of the week right here and it is the game that kicks off this weekend in Serie A. Early fixture for the Rome derby due to security concerns. This game is always fired up and it is the biggest game of the year for both sides.

Roma come into this game with a great home win against Frosinone (4-0) to end a bad patch of 2 draws and 3 losses in all competitions. It was a much needed win for confidence and regrouping. Roma sit in 10th place with 8 points, 11 goals scored and 9 allowed. Roma may be looking at this as a final. They lose this and they will be 7 points away from Lazio after week 7.

Lazio on the other hand are having a great season after a shaky start. They’ve won their last 5 including 2 away games. They are on form and they will come into this game with utmost confidence. The biancocelesti know they are able to win and there would be no better way to seal their intentions for this year with a derby win. They need this game to almost get a leap ahead of Roma.

The last 5 derby games were mixed fortunes for both teams. These games are usually a toss of the coin. When Roma are home they’ve won 3 of the last 5. All high scoring games with both teams to score.

  • Both teams to score
  • Over 4.5 cards
  • Over 8 total corners

Juventus vs Napoli

Kick-off: Week 7, Saturday, 29 September

The best game of the weekend is the second in line for kick off at 18:00 on Saturday. The Allianz stadium is set for the match of the day and probably the year. These two rivals have battled out the Serie A for the last 4 years and Juventus never seem to decline. Napoli started off almost just as well. Only a loss to Sampdoria leaves them behind Juve by 3 points.

Juventus are the only team on perfect points. Their squad has been the best for a few years now and this game features Cristiano Ronaldo’s first real battle. Napoli are not the best at defending themselves so this may be where Cristiano finds space. Up to now he has struggled with finishing and perhaps this is because the teams he has played against were dead set on defending.

Juventus’ form is great but Napoli’s is also not that shabby. The home side will have Douglas Costa (suspension), De Sciglio (injured) and Khedira (injured) out for this game. Napoli are missing Ghoulan. The last 5 games at the Allianz Stadium bear no good news for Napoli. Only 1 win with a 91st Minute goal. The rest have been all dominated by Juventus.

  • Tough match to call but we will go with Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo to score
  • Over 4 yellow cards
  • Over 9 total corners

Inter vs Cagliari

Kick-off: Week 7, Saturday, 29 September

Inter seem to be getting their rhythm and this is good news for them following an abysmal start. The summer expectations seem to be getting more realistic and now Inter will be focusing on the top 4 places and a Champions league campaign next year again.

Inter have Miranda and Vrsalijko out of action for this game. The rest of the squad that played against Fiorentina will be available and therefore Inter come into this game looking to consolidate their good run. They have Champions league commitments next week (Wednesday – Away to PSV) so perhaps this may cause a slight distraction.

Cagliari are not strong and have not won a game in the last 3 weeks. They are looking to get back into some form of football rhythm but it is just not happening. Away from home they are weak and therefore this does not look good for them.

Having said that, the last 5 games at San Siro have seen Cagliari win twice and draw once. They were smashed here last season 4-0 so they will be looking to change things this time around.

Check out the team list for Inter before betting on this one. If they are at full strength you can go with:

  • Inter to win
  • Icardi to score
