Milan vs Napoli

Kick off: Saturday 26, January

Milan have a depleted squad right now but have managed to pull off a good away win against Genoa on Monday. The match was played at an awkward time. Prandelli  and Gattuso vented their frustrations but the match went ahead as planned. The Rossoneri fielded a makeshift lineup with Borini and Cutrone upfront. They got the job done and settled the match at 2-0. The win takes Milan to 4th place ahead of in-form Roma.

Napoli had a great encounter at home against Lazio and their attacking style at home was overwhelming for the Biancocelesti. Two goals in quick succession put Lazio to sleep and Napoli went on to control the game from thereon. Ancellotti has managed to squeeze out a good performance again from a squad that could do with some additions over the summer. The Partenopei lack squad depth and this does not allow them to compete with Juventus through the season.

The San Siro will be packed on Saturday night as it will be a big game mostly for Milan. If the home side win this one it will be a great achievement for them seeing as their injury list is approaching 10 players. The away side have had their way in recent years in this stadium winning 3 of the last 5 and managing another draw. This will be a high tempo game with lots of action. Expect hard tackles and an emotional set of Milan players. Gattuso and Ancellotti will have utmost respect for each other but once the whistle blows, we’re in for a cracker.

  • Both teams to score
  • Over 10 total corners
  • Over 4 yellow cards for both teams combined

Atalanta vs Roma

Kick off: Sunday 27, January

Both teams on top form right now and this will be an extremely interesting fixture. These encounters at the Atleti Azzurri D’Italia stadium have produced thrillers of late. Lots of corners and both teams to score in the last 8 of 9 here in Bergamo.

Roma are coming off a 3 game win streak and last weekend sealed off a tough win against Torino. After being 2-0 up Roma conceded twice and managed a third goal to snatch it on the 78th minute. Their young startlet Zaniolo entertained the crowd with his confidence and fancy footwork and Roma have really found energy in his style of play.

Gasperini’s men absolutely demolished Frosinone in a match that exposed the true difference between a side that is fighting for top places and another that is destined since matchday 1 to return to Serie B. Players to watch for Atalanta are the usual suspects in Papu Gomez and Zapata. The latter firing in 4 goals last weekend to become joint top scorer of the Serie A with Quagliarella and Ronaldo.

Expect lots of corners in this one and the btts streak to continue.

  • Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals
  • Over 10 total corners

Torino vs Inter

Kick off: Sunday 27, January

Torino come off a tough loss at the hands of Roma. After cutting a 2-0 deficit to 2-2, Roma snatched a win that leaves Torino with only 1 win in their last 7 games. They are in a crisis right now. Sitting on 27 points in 11th place, the Granata we were initially tipped to be one of the outsiders for a Europa League place. Don’t get me wrong, they are still in the running but the wins need to come soon.

Mazzarri will likely field a 4-3-3 formation and go for the win here. They’ve beaten Inter before. The last 5 games at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino were quite balanced affair. 3 draws and one win a piece for each team.

Inter only managed a draw at home to Sassuolo in their first game back after the winter break. They looked strong at times but their finishing let them down. On the other hand, Sassuolo were dangerous and at times looked like they could grab a win. The Interisti are hopeful that they can secure Champions League football again next season, however consistency may be a threat to Inter.

Nainggolan is a shadow of his former self and Icardi is also in the worst form of his Inter career. They need to step up in this one. This will be a battle from kick off until the final whistle. The home team are desperate for a win and usually that turns out to be a volatile game.

  • Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals
  • Over 4 yellow cards for both teams
  • Correct score prediction 2-1 Torino win

Lazio vs Juventus

Kick off: Sunday 27, January

When the season kicked off, Lazio had a promising road ahead. A disappointing 5th finish place on the last league game and a successful summer at keeping their stars augured well. That was not the case this season though. The inconsistency has punished Inzaghi’s men heavily. Injuries to their top players and perhaps some ego problems too have left Lazio sitting in 6th place with 32 points. They are still in the battle for 4th place, but are also surrounded by more consistent teams and a dark horse in Atalanta waiting to pounce.

Simone Inzaghi will most likely field a 4-3-3 with Milinkovic Savic in a more advanced position and Immobile up front as central stiker. The Biancocelesti absolutely need to treat this game like a final. Pity for them that their opponents are currently top of the food chain right now.

Juventus come into this game fresh off a Super Cup win against Milan and a 3-0 drubbing of lowly Chievo on Monday night. Ronaldo had his worst game of the season. Perhaps attributable to the fact that he has (one day after) accepted an 18m Euro tax penalty from the Spanish government. Nevertheless, Juventus went on to win the game without him with Goals from Douglas Costa, Emre Can and Daniele Rugani.

Allegri still cannot rely on Mario Mandzukic as he is out for another couple of weeks. The most likely formation will be the classic 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2 with Dybala, Ronaldo and Douglas Costa filling positions upfront.

The last 5 duels between these two at the Stadio Olimpico have been a true understand of Juventus’ domination of this fixture. 5 games, 5 wins for the away side. All to zero. If we were to stand by this, it looks like a win for Juve.

The odds are also looking ok and there is still value in a Juventus win.

  • Juventus to win outright
  • Over 9 total corners
  • Under 2.5 goals
