premier league weekend predictions

Everton v West Ham

Kick-off: Gameweek 9, Saturday 19th October, 12:30

Everton come into this game having lost all of their previous four matches which has left them in the bottom three after 8 games played. Considering all the money Everton have spent on the transfer market this has been a huge surprise. Manager Marco Silva has come under a lot of pressure.

West Ham have had a solid start to the season. Before the international break, their match at Crystal Palace ended in a shocker on the 90th minute. It took a while for the goal to be given with VAR. They’ll be looking to bounce back here.

Everton really do not look like a team playing with confidence at the moment and with West Ham looking a big threat, we think they could get all three points here.

Correct score prediction: Everton 1 – 2 West Ham
Odds: 14/1

Aston Villa v Brighton

Kick-off: Gameweek 9, Saturday 19th October, 15:00

Aston Villa got a huge result before the international break as they smashed Norwich 5-1 away from home which took them out of the bottom three and will want to start looking up the table rather than behind them. Villa have been a side playing well most weeks, but results just haven’t gone their way. They’ll be hoping the previous result has turned the tables.

Brighton are just one place and one point above Aston Villa at this stage and they too come into this game off the back of a massive result after smashing Tottenham 3-0 at home. Not many expected it after Brighton winning only once in the league previously but a win like that can really work wonders for the confidence of aside.

Although Brighton played very well last time out, we think the confidence Aston Villa would have picked up will see them get the points on home soil.

Correct score prediction: Aston Villa 1 – 0 Brighton
Odds: 7/1

Bournemouth v Norwich

Kick-off: Gameweek 9, Saturday 19th October, 15:00

Bournemouth have had a good start to the Premier League, currently sat in 10th. They would have counted themselves unlucky not to get anything last time out, losing 1-0 away to Arsenal. They had chances during the game which on another day could have given them a point or even more but they will see this as a good chance to get back to winning ways.

Norwich will be looking for a big response this weekend after the thrashing at home to Aston Villa but they’ll know they’re in for another tough afternoon with Bournemouth playing very well, especially at home. Norwich will know if they are to stay in the Premier League, they are going to have to start picking p regular points and we can’t see that being the case here.

We think Bournemouth will prove to tougher competition for Norwich in this one.

Correct score prediction: Bournemouth 3 – 1 Norwich
Odds: 16/1

Chelsea v Newcastle

Kick-off: Gameweek 9, Saturday 19th October, 15:00

Chelsea have been looking better of late. Lampard’s men have been rewarded for it with a 5th place spot in the Premier League. 2 points behind Manchester City in 2nd with Arsenal and Leicester the only other teams between them and 2nd. They’ll see this as a must-win, especially with the game being at Stamford Bridge.

Newcastle did enough in there last outing to jump out the bottom three after a big win at home to Manchester United. That victory would have done a lot for the confidence of the players which would have been needed after a tough start to the season and manager Steve Bruce under a lot of criticism.

Although Newcastle got a good win last time out, they haven’t been that impressive this season and we expect Chelsea to take advantage of that.

Correct score prediction: Chelsea 2 – 0 Newcastle
Odds: 7/1

Leicester v Burnley

Kick-off: Gameweek 9, Saturday 19th October, 15:00

Leicester are currently fourth in the Premier League after an incredible start to the season and are currently just two points behind Manchester City who are 2nd as it stands. A win here and other results going their way and this could be a good weekend for the Foxes. Could they have another shock season and secure Champions League football?
Burnley have had a great start to the season and find themselves in 7th as it stands. They have lost just once in their last five Premier League matches and will want to maintain that record this weekend. However, they are in for a tough challenge here against a side who will see this as a good chance for another win.

With Leicester being the home side, we think they will edge out Brighton for maximum points.

Correct score prediction: Leicester 3 – 1 Burnley
Odds: 14/1

Tottenham v Watford

Kick-off: Gameweek 9, Saturday 19th October, 15:00

For Tottenham’s standards, it has been a disastrous start to the season and find themselves in 9th position. They are only three points adrift of the top four but the more worrying thing for the club will be the way they are playing and dropping points. A 3-0 defeat away to Brighton last time out summed up the start they have had.

If there is a game Spurs don’t want to lose, it’s this one. Watford have picked up just three points from eight games which have come from three draws, meaning they are still eagerly awaiting their first win of the season. It’s not looking good for the club who last season came close to securing European football.

Although Spurs have been poor, Watford have been abysmal so we can see the home team taking the points.

Correct score prediction: Tottenham 3 – 0 Watford
Odds: 10/1

Wolves v Southampton

Kick-off: Gameweek 9, Saturday 19th October, 15:00

Wolves had a shocking start to the season. But they come into this one unbeaten in their last three matches, winning both of their last two. At home, Wolves tend to be a very difficult side to beat and they’ll want to try and make it tough for Southampton to have many chances on goal in this one which they have the capability to do at the back.

In their previous home encounter with Chelsea, Southampton looked poor. They lost the game 4-0. They’ll have to pick up the performance a lot more in this one if they are to get anything from Wolves on the road.

If Southampton play anything as they did against Chelsea, we can’t see them getting anything. They do tend to score in most Premier League matches.

Correct score prediction: Wolves 2 – 1 Southampton
Odds: 10/1

Crystal Palace v Manchester City

Kick-off: Gameweek 9, Saturday 19th October, 17:30

Crystal Palace pulled off a shock win over Manchester City away from home last season which almost cost City the league. They’ll be hoping to cause similar damage to a wounded City side this weekend and they’re in good form for it having won four of there opening 8 matches, getting them up to 6th in the Premier League.

Manchester City have already fallen 8 points adrift of Liverpool in the title race which already looks like a huge mountain to climb with Liverpool playing so well. They’ll know if they are to have any chance, they are going to have to win pretty much all of their remaining matches this season with Liverpool looking pretty unstoppable.

Manchester City are already five eight behind Liverpool at this stage of the season so we really can’t see them making any more mistakes anytime soon.

Correct score prediction: Crystal Palace 0 – 3 Manchester City
Odds: 10/1

Manchester United v Liverpool

Kick-off: Gameweek 9, Sunday 20th October, 16:30

Manchester United are currently 12 in the Premier League. Yes, you read that right, 12th. It has not been the start many expected and with big players like Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and co all underperforming, it’s not looking good for the side. What they wouldn’t want this weekend is to play bitter rivals, Liverpool, however, they’ll have to pull out a good performance here.

Liverpool have won every Premier League game up to now and are eight points clear at the top of the league. They’ll be hoping to keep that gap this weekend. They’ll really fancy themselves to get one over Manchester United at home. Possibly increasing the gap.

We can see Liverpool absolutely embarrassing United in this one.

Correct score prediction: Manchester United 0 – 4 Liverpool
Odds: 33/1

Sheffield United v Arsenal

Kick-off: Gameweek 9, Monday 21st October, 20:00

Sheffield United will be happy with the start they have had in the English top-flight but with the side sat just two points above the bottom three, they’ll be desperate to get some points on the board as soon as possible to give themselves a bit of breathing space. Newly promoted sides love the prospect of big clubs going to there stadiums which can work in their advantage.

Arsenal won’t want to make any mistakes here as they currently sit in 3rd position, just one point below Manchester City at this stage. When this game is played, they could move up to second depending on the Manchester City result on Saturday afternoon. With players returning from Injury, Arsenal could be a threat this season.

Although we can see this being a close encounter, we can see the quality of Arsenal shining through to get the three points.

Correct score prediction: Sheffield United 1 – 2 Arsenal
Odds: 12/1
