epl week 3 predictions

Aston Villa v Everton

Kick-off: Gameweek 3, Friday 23rd August, 20:00

Aston Villa were unable to get anything last time out as they slumped, to a 2-1 defeat at home to Bournemouth. It was a poor first half which cost them as they went into the break 2-0 down. A better second half was displayed by the side, but it was not enough for them to get anything from the match.

Everton got there first win of the season on the board last weekend, beating Watford 1-0 at Goodison Park. It was not as comfortable as they would have liked but you could see the side digging right in which is something which has been missing for the Toffees in previous seasons. They’ll want nothing short of another three points in this one.

Aston Villa will be desperate to get some points on the board to kick start their season, but we can see Everton building on their positive start.

● Correct score prediction: Aston Villa 1 – 2 Everton
● Odds: 9/1

Norwich v Chelsea

Kick-off: Gameweek 3, Saturday 24th August, 20:30

Norwich put on a great show at the weekend as they smashed Newcastle 3-1. Pukki’s hattrick was the second of the season for the Premier league. It was the first from a Norwich player in the top flight. They will be feeling positive going into this one, especially seeing how Chelsea have started this season.

Chelsea were smashed 4-0 to Manchester United on the opening day before drawing 1-1 with Leciester at home, which is a game they could have easily lost. If these opening two games are anything to go by, it could be a long season for the Blue’s. It would be nice to see Frank Lampard to get some time to settle, but you never know with the Chelsea owner.

Norwich have been impressive so far this season but Chelsea need to get going and we think they could do here.

● Correct score prediction: Norwich 1 – 2 Chelsea
● Odds: 7/1

Brighton v Southampton

Kick-off: Gameweek 3, Saturday 24th August, 15:00

Brighton have had a very good start to the season with a win over Watford before a draw with West Ham. During the summer, many were backing Brighton to face the drop this season. If the first couple of games are anything to go by, it could be a positive campaign for Brighton under the new boss.

Southampton have lost 2 out of 2 at this stage but having watched the games, they have showed a lot of promise which must pay off at some point for the Saints. They scared Liverpool on the weekend having come from behind to lose 2-1 and also miss a couple of golden opportunities with seconds to go to draw/win the match.

Brighton have had a great start and although the results don’t show it, Saints haven’t been bad either so we’re going for a draw in this one.

● Correct score prediction: Brighton 1 – 1 Southampton
● Odds: 11/2

Manchester United v Crystal Palace

Kick-off: Gameweek 3, Saturday 24th August, 15:00

Manchester United have shown so far this season what they are about and how they plan to take on this season. They have looked very sharp and with the new link up between Rashford and Martial looking threatening, clubs all around the country will be daunting having to play them this season.

Crystal Palace were unable to beat 10 man Everton on the opening day and were beaten 1-0 against Premier League new boys Sheffield United. It is looking as if it could be a long season for the Eagles and if they are to lose Wilfried Zaha at some point, they could be in deep trouble.

We can only see one winner in this one, that’s Manchester United.

● Correct score prediction: Manchester United 4 – 0 Crystal Palace
● Odds: 12/1

Sheffield United v Leicester

Kick-off: Gameweek 3, Saturday 24th August, 15:00

Sheffield United managed to get there first win back in the Premier League on the board last weekend as they sore of Crystal Palace 1-0. They’ll be hoping to make home advantage cout again this weekend as they welcome Leciester. Sheffield United are the favourites to face the drp this season, but team spirit is looking high which can go a long way.

Leicester would have been left frustrated not to get all three points away at Chelsea on the weekend after pushing them right until the end and looking like the only team who was going to win. The pace this side have going forward will make it hard for any team in the division, especially a side who have just been promoted into the top flight in English football.

We can see the likes of Jamie Vardy, James Maddison and co causing too many problems for Sheffield United.

● Correct score prediction: Sheffield United 1 – 3 Leicester
● Odds: 14/1

Watford v West Ham

Kick-off: Gameweek 3, Saturday 24th August, 15:00

Watford are another side who have lost both of their opening two games and that comes at a huge surprise after the form they showed last season, pushing for European football. However, it is still very early days and there is loads of time for them to turn it around and get back to winning ways and this is a good chance for that to happen.

West Ham were thumped on the opening day of the season. The Hammers managed to get a point on the board last time out as they drew 1-1 again Brighton away from home. Lots of big players were brought in during the summer window and many are expecting them to push on this season and challenge the top eight.

Although West Ham have done some good business, they are still geling and we expect Watford to get going this weekend.

● Correct score prediction: Watford 2 – 0 West Ham
● Odds: 8/1

Wolves v Burnley

Kick-off: Gameweek 3, Saturday 24th August, 15:00

Wolves had an outstanding start to life in the Premier League last season and will be hoping to build on that this season. They have started well and will be hoping to carry that on as the season goes on. Wolves have once again been busy in the transfer market and will be confident they can improve on last seasons impressive tallys.

Burnley have been impressive so far this season with a crunching 3-0 win over Southampton, before pushing Arsenal all the way at the Emirates. Although they lost they game, many positives can be taken. Burnley were another side backed to face the drop. Instead, they’ve started better than many would have expected.

Although its been a good start for Burnley, we can see Wolves getting the upper hand.

● Correct score prediction: Wolves 3 – 1 Burnley
● Odds: 9/1

Liverpool v Arsenal

Kick-off: Gameweek 3, Saturday 24th August, 17:30

Liverpool have won two games out of two and although they were given a scare last time out away to Southampton, they were able to get over the line which is what the best teams do. If Liverpool are to go one better and win the league this season, they must win these type of games whenever they come around.

Arsenal have won their opening two games of a Premier League season for the first time in nearly 10 years which is a crazy stat with the size of the club. However, this is the best we have seen Arsenal in a long time and with the attacking threat they hold, they could cause the Liverpool defence some problems.

We can see this one being a goal fest with the attacking quality on show, but with Liverpool edging it.

● Correct score prediction: Liverpool 3 – 2 Arsenal
● Odds: 16/1

Bournemouth v Manchester City

Kick-off: Gameweek 3, Sunday 25th August, 14:00

Bournemouth should be very pleased having beaten Aston Villa away from home last weekend. They did very well to hold on to the lead with Aston Villa, battering them for much of the second half. They’re going to need to defend just as well and a lot better in this one if they are going to get anything.

Manchester City were left heartbroken, after a VAR decision ruled out a last minute winner from Gabriel Jesus at home to Tottenham. However, the decision stands and City have now dropped their first points of the season in which they will not want to increase this weekend. Nothing but a win will do for Pep’s men.

We can’t see Bournemouth matching the onslaught Manchester City will put on them in this one.

● Correct score prediction: Bournemouth 0 – 4 Manchester City
● Odds: 11/1

Tottenham v Newcastle

Kick-off: Gameweek 3, Sunday 25th August, 16:30

Tottenham did not play very well away to Manchester City last weekend. To get a point in that game would have filled them with confidence and shown them that they can challenge for the title this season. Lucas Moura made the difference for them in that game and it would be a shock if we didn’t see him start this one.

Newcastle have had a shocking start to the season and have really not looked like even challenging. The Arsenal defeat was expected. To be torn apart by Norwich and lose 3-0 to a side just promoted shows they are slacking off and could be in for a long season.

Newcastle need lift off for their season to get started. This game will not be that lift off.

● Correct score prediction: Tottenham 2 – 0 Newcastle
● Odds: 8/1
