Sunderland Vs QPR

Despite scoring two goals on Saturday, Sunderland lost due to some poor defending when West Brom visited the Stadium of Light. Next to travel North are QPR who are in desperate need of a result. Rangers were the umpteenth team this season to lose having scored against Manchester United first. Harry Redknapp has a daunting task ahead of him. Sessegnon has found some form with two goals in two games and is likely to find the net again.

Aston Villa Vs Reading

Aston Villa remain in the relegation zone despite a scoreless draw against Arsenal on Saturday evening. The visit of Reading gives Villa a real opportunity to climb out of the drop zone. The Royals were undone by a Jordi Gomez hat-trick and find themselves two points adrift of safety heading into this game. Too early to be decisive, but this match could be pivotal next May when the season reaches it’s conclusion. With neither side having a good defensive record, I predict a score draw.

Chelsea Vs Fulham

Stamford Bridge will host it’s second match in the space of a few days when Fulham make the very short journey to Chelsea. Rafa Benitez will have been slightly relieved to hear the final whistle with City dominating proceedings on Sunday. Fulham were on the losing end at Stoke and have now lost their last two matches on the trot. The Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge on Sunday let Rafa Benitez and Roman Abramovich know what they thought of Di Matteo’s replacement. Chelsea must win this game if Benitez is to win the Chelsea fans over.

Everton Vs Arsenal

Everton will be kicking themselves after conceding a late equaliser against Norwich on Saturday. Had they held on for the victory, The Toffees would be just 2 points behind Chelsea. This match offers Everton the opportunity to put further distance between themselves and Top 4 rivals Arsenal. The Gunners fired blanks when visiting Aston Villa and are just 1 point behind Everton as they head to Goodison Park. The winner of this game would be right on the heels of 4th place Chelsea.

Southampton Vs Norwich

Southampton have got themselves out of the relegation zone with a second victory on the trot over Newcastle on Sunday. The Saints are being rewarded for persevering with Nigel Adkins while Chairmen elsewhere fired their managers and had disappointing results at the weekend. Norwich snatched a point from Everton thanks to Bassong’s late equaliser. A win at St Mary’s would propel The Canaries into the top half of the table. This will be an intriguing game.

Stoke Vs Newcastle

Stoke won their second consecutive game at The Britannia 1-0 with a win over Fulham. While not setting the league alight, Stoke know that the name of the game is getting results. Newcastle visit on the back of a poor run of results having lost their last 3 games. The absence of Ben Arfa and Cabaye proved too much for them to overcome at Southampton. Alan Pardew has a tough job on his hands to try and leave Stoke with any points.

Swansea Vs West Brom

Swansea played out a 0-0 draw against Liverpool at The Liberty Stadium on Sunday. West Brom will provide an equally tough, if not more challenging prospect on Wednesday night. The Swans are comfortably in the top half of the table and West Brom are riding high in 3rd place. The Baggies won convincingly at Sunderland and have won their last four games including two games away from home. Steve Clarke will be keen to extend this to five in a row.

Tottenham Vs Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur moved level on points with rivals Arsenal after a 3-1 win over West Ham at White Hart Lane. Jermain Defoe bagged a brace against his old club and proved what an effective marksman he is. A second away game within four days brings Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool to North London. The Reds were unable to find a way through a robust Swansea defence despite having a goal disallowed and hitting the woodwork. This should be a very entertaining match. I am backing a home win here.

Manchester United Vs West Ham

Manchester United once again came from a losing position to claim 3 points against QPR on Saturday. It is beginning to look like scoring against United is the worst thing opposing teams can do. Unusually, RVP was not among the goals but he will be keen to get back on scoresheet when West Ham visit on Wednesday. The Hammers have had two tricky away trips in quick succession and will be thankful that they have accumulated a good number of points from their previous matches. Home win here.

Wigan Vs Manchester City

Wigan were thankful to Jordi Gomez who secured 3 important points with 3 important goals in Week 13. A victory in this game could take Wigan into the top half of the table. However, the visiting team in Week 14 may prove more problematic to beat – Manchester City. Roberto Mancini was left feeling that 2 points were dropped when City only drew at Stamford Bridge. The Champions have now dropped to second place in the League and will want to keep the pressure on Manchester United.
