The Premier League action returns with a bang on Saturday, as leaders Everton welcome champions Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby. Carlo Ancelotti’s men have won every game so far this season and will fancy their chances of a first win over the Reds in a decade. Jürgen Klopp’s side are still licking their wounds from that incredible 7-2 defeat to Aston Villa; they’ll need an instant response but should be able to welcome Sadio Mane and Thiago Alcántara back after they had to isolate following positive coronavirus tests.
Everton have managed to draw three of their last six derbies, but lost the other three. They have been in such free scoring form this season, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin also scoring for England last week; both sides have struggled to keep clean sheets lately, with just three between them over a combined 12 games in all competitions. Both teams to score seems like a sensible bet at 8/15 with Bet365.
Who are the favourites here?
For the first time in years, this game is wide open. Form is with Everton, despite history being stacked in Liverpool’s favour.
We think the draw is where the value lies here, especially after last year’s Goodison stalemate. That is at 16/5 with Bet365.
What other markets are worth a look?
We quite like the look of Calvert-Lewin to score first and Everton to win at 13/1 with Bet365.
But three of Liverpool’s last four wins against the Toffees have come after goals in the second half of matches. A draw HT/Liverpool FT bet at 4/1 with Bet365 is enticing.
