Chelsea vs Manchester United

Kick-off: Week 9, Saturday, 20 October

Our Premier League Week 9 predictions start off with the biggest game of the match week! Maurizio Sarri takes on Jose Mourinho as the Blue side of London welcomes the Red Devils of Manchester to Stamford Bridge. No 2 managers are as different as these two. Sarriball is all about taking the game to opponents. Sarri does not allow his men to simply stand back, instead he forces his team to take the game to their opponents running the ball for 90 minutes.

The jewel in his crown is the player of the moment, Eden Hazard. The Belgian has been in blistering this season leading the race for top scorer.

Jose Mourinho like to adopt a different tact with his teams. An astute tactician the Portuguese maestro like his teams to sit tight and carefully picking their moment to strike. It may not be the most exciting brand of football, but it brought Mourinho success wherever he has coached. Rumours of descent within the dressing room persist however, results on the pitch are what matters.

With United lying far behind the chasing pack in 8th place anything less than a win will all but end United’s hopes to challenge this season.

We are tipping Chelsea to take all 3 points at Stamford Bridge.

Score Prediction: 3-1

West Ham vs Tottenham

Kick-off: Week 9, Saturday, 20 October

West Ham have won just 2 games this season but its been enough to lift them off the bottom of the table. The Hammers have not been able to string to home wins together since 2016, a worrying stat for any Hammer fan. There is some good news as West Ham have said they expect Marko Arnautovic to return to the side after missing a game for Austria, although West Ham may be sweating on his health up until kick-off time.

Spurs have recovered from a slight dip in form to rack up three wins in a row. Eriksen is rumoured to be available for selection after the Dane missed his side’s last 4 matches. Mauricio Pochettino has other injury worries too. Moussa Dembele has struggled to recover from a thigh injury, but the club expect him to be in contention for Saturday’s match.

The return of two vital players should ensure that Spurs come away with a victory at London Stadium and that’s why we are tipping them to grab all three points.

Score Prediction: 0-2

Newcastle vs Brighton

Kick-off: Week 9, Saturday, 20 October

The Magpies has lost 5 of their last 6 matches and head into this fixture languishing in 19th place of the Barclay’s Premier League. Newcastle will be desperate to register their first win of the season as they host Brighton at St. James’s Park. Boss Rafa Benitez knows his side must perform against Brighton, who were promoted to the top flight in the same season as Newcastle.

The Spanish boss watched his team throw away a 2-0 lead last time out against Manchester United and he will be keen to avoid a repeat.

Contrary to their hosts, Brighton managed to overcome the Hammers at home in their last match-up. They will head into this fixture with an aim to rack up a second consecutive Premier League victory.

Chris Hughton has no injury concerns providing a boost to his side. He will no doubt look to Glenn Murray, who has scored five goals this season, to inspire the rest of the team.

We expect a tight encounter at St. James Park which is why we are tipping a draw.

Score Prediction: 1-1

Bournemouth vs Southampton

Kick-off: Week 9, Saturday, 20 October

The Cherries host the Saints at Dean Court this Saturday as they aim to record their third win in a row. Looking at the table its easy to see why Bournemouth are favourites heading into this fixture. The Cherries have surprised many this season managing to climb up to sixth place this season.

The Saint’s on the other hand, have struggled as they sit in the other half of the table. They have lost their last three fixtures and will be eager to avoid a fourth defeat on the trot.

We are tipping Bournemouth to take all three points at the Vitality stadium.

Score Prediction: 2-0

Cardiff City vs Fulham

Kick-off: Week 9, Saturday, 20 October

Cardiff are still searching for their first win of the season 8 games in to this Premier League season. Neil Warnock’s men are one of three teams without a league win this season, along with Huddersfield and Newcastle. Neil Warnock’s team have struggled to remain focused and organized at the back conceding 17 goals this season, the second worst record in the league.

The pressure is slowly rising on Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic, who oversaw a huge spending spree over the summer. However, Jokanovic has played down the significance of Saturday’s fixture. No matter how he tries to frame it, the pressure is on as the Cottagers struggle in 17th place. Given the amount of money invested, they should be fairing much better.

Score Prediction: 1-2

Wolves vs Watford

Kick-off: Week 9, Saturday, 20 October

Wolves are unbeaten in their last six matches as they host Watford. Wolves had a wobbly start to the Premier League season but seem to have found their feet. Their visitors, Watford looked unbeatable at the start of the season but have stumbled lately and have not been able to buy a win.

The home side have managed four clean sheets in their last five games, a statistic manager Nuno Espirito Santo will be hoping they can continue to build on.

We are tipping Wolves to edge this encounter.

Correct score: 3-2

Manchester City vs Burnley

Kick-off: Week 9, Saturday, 20 October

Kevin De Bruyne shall have a late fitness test ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Burnley this Saturday. The Belgium midfielder remained at City over the international break, having not played since injuring his knee on the opening weekend of the season against Arsenal.

This match is the first of seven games in 23 days for City, including home and away Champions League games against Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk and a Premier League clash with Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs. The current league leaders’ last fixture ended goalless Anfield.

Burnley have had their struggles of late with European football seemingly interrupting their preparations and distracting them from their domestic duties. Sean Dyche will be hoping to work some of his magic to grab a point at the Etihad.

We are tipping City to run riot at the Etihad.

Correct score: 4-1

Huddersfield vs Liverpool

Kick-off: Week 9, Saturday, 20 October

Relegation threatened Huddersfield host high-flying Liverpool in Saturday’s evening fixture. They remain without a win this season and will not have high hopes heading into this fixture.

Mohamed Salah is set to be passed fit for Liverpool’s Premier League clash with lowly Huddersfield Town on Saturday after the Egyptian winger had been a doubt for the trip to the John Smith’s Stadium after suffering an injury on international duty last Friday. In more good news for Jurgen Klopp Virgil van Dijk has also trained and should be available to retain his place at the heart of Jurgen Klopp’s backline.

We are tipping Liverpool to take all three points at John Smith’s stadium.

Score Prediction: 0-3
