premier league predictions

With winter slowly easing in the football is coming thick and fast.  After the midweek European nights Premier League football is back on. So sit down, settle in as we take a look at the hottest action of the premier league games this weekend.

Fulham vs Watford

Kick-off: Week 6, Saturday, 22 September

Fulham have managed just 1 win in their first 5 matches since being promoted back to the Premier League.  On average, they have conceded 2 goals per game. Jokanovic will know that the Cottagers must address their issues at the back if they are to turn the tide of negative results.

It looked like the signing of Mitrovic may have provided the impetus the team were looking for to turn the season around. Last week’s loss to Manchester City quickly brought Fulham back down to earth.  They will be looking to bounce back as the host Watford at Craven Cottage.

Just as we tipped Watford suffered their first defeat of the Premier League season when they were beaten at home by Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.  That loss ruined what had been a perfect season thus far for Javi Garcia’s men.

Following the defeat Watford now sit in 4th place with 12 points out of a possible 15.  They will be expecting to get their season back on track as they take on the Cottagers in London this weekend.

We are tipping the Hornets to come away with all 3 points.

  • Correct score: 2-3
  • Bonus: Over 3.5 goals

Manchester United vs Wolves

Kick-off: Week 6, Saturday, 22 September

Jose Mourinho’s men followed up their 2 wins on the trot in the Premier League with a victory in the Group H Champions League opener.  That’s 3 wins in a row across all competitions for a Manchester United who are supposedly in crisis.

The Red Devils currently lie in 8th place and a victory over the weekend could see them move up to 5th.  Paul Pogba grabbed a brace mid-week and his all round form has been good and improving steadily, not bad for a player looking to move club and not getting on with his manager.

Wolves have performed admirably so far this season.  They started off with 2 draw in their first 3 matches, notching up 2 wins in a row and currently sit in 9th 1 point behind their hosts.

With both teams heading in to this game in a good patch of form we expect an exciting contest but ultimately we expect the Red Devils to take all 3 points at Old Trafford.

  • Correct score: 3-1

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle

Kick-off: Week 6, Saturday, 22 September

Palace have picked up just 6 points from a possible 15.  Before the season many expected this Palace side to push for a place in Europe lead by the talented Wilfried Zaha.  Instead Palace have looked disorganized and disjointed, a style which characterized England’s performances under current Palace manager Roy Hodgson.

Their visitors Newcastle have had an even worse season so far managing a measly 1 point from their first 5 matches.  Newcastle have scored too few and conceded too many something which have been very evident in the manner with which they have lost their fixtures.

We are tipping a victory for the Eagles at Selhurt Park.

  • Correct score: 2-1
  • Bonus: Wilfried Zaha to score anytime.

Cardiff City vs Manchester City

Kick-off: Week 6, Saturday, 22 September

Life in the Premier League has not been easy to Cardiff City.  The Welsh side has yet to register their first victory of the season and they are unlikely to register it this weekend as they host Manchester City.

Manchester City’s draw at the Molineux a few weeks back remains the only taint on an otherwise perfect record for Pep Guardiola’s men in the Premier League.  The Sky Blues’ mid-week lost to Lyon will weigh on the mind of the City Manager who is under pressure to achieve in Europe this season.

Will that pressure begin to take its toll? We are tipping a score draw at the Cardiff City stadium.

  • Correct score: 2-2
  • Bonus: Over 2.5 goals

Liverpool vs Southampton

Kick-off: Week 6, Saturday, 22 September

The Reds are flying high in the Premier League winning all 5 of their first 5 matches.  They have carried that form into Europe putting 3 past Paris St Germain in mid-week.  Jurgen Klopp will expect his men to maintain their form and keep the pressure on league leaders Liverpool as they host a struggling Southampton side.

Southampton, have been a team in decline for a number of years.  Their form so far this season suggests they will struggle to survive the drop.  With just 1 win so far this season Mark Hughes will need to act to turn around his team’s fortune.  Fixtures don’t get much harder than an away day at Anfield, so the revival may need to wait a week.

We are tipping Liverpool to wallop the Saint’s at Anfield.

  • Correct score: 3-0
  • Bonus: Over 2.5 goal

Brighton vs Tottenham

Kick-off: Week 6, Saturday, 22 September

Brighton were one of the surprised performers of last season’s Premier League season. This season they have been brought back down to earth managing to register just 1 win this season.  Goals have not been a problem to find, but keeping them out has.  A bit of tinkering at the back could change their fortunes.

Spurs started the season looking like a team ready to challenge but with 2 defeats in a row they are beginning to fall of the pace of the leading pack.  Many will argue this is typical of the mentality that has characterized Spurs’ performances over the years.  Their mid-week performance add further wood to that fire.

A top 4 challenge now looks like the best Spurs can hope for this season but, that being said, this fixture should not pose too much of a challenge for Pochettino’s side.

We are tipping Spurs to take all 3 points at Falmer Stadium.

  • Correct score: 0-2

West Ham vs Chelsea

Kick-off: Week 6, Sunday, 23 September

Just as we tipped the other week, West Ham managed to grab all 3 points in their encounter with Everton at Goodison Park.  That win helped lift them off the base of the Premier League table.  This week they face-off against league leaders Chelsea in a classic London Derby.  Manuel Pellegrini has enjoyed a full week of rest which should have been plenty of time to help him prepare his team for this challenging fixture.

Marko Arnautovic is an injury doubt for this all London clash.  The big powerful Austrian has been at the centre of everything good at West Ham since his arrival in the summer.  Pellegrini will be sweating on his fitness.

Chelsea have run rampant so far this season.  Their 5 wins in as many games has them sitting a top the Premier League table.  The Blues come to London Stadium following their important victory away to PAOK in the Europa League, will they be suffering from a European hangover?

We are tipping a score draw at the London Stadium.

  • Correct score: 1-1

Arsenal vs Everton

Kick-off: Week 6, Sunday, 23 September

Arsenal have recovered from a poor start to grind out 3 wins in a row.  Their reversal of fortunes has Emery’s side occupying 7th place, 1 position above Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.  The Gunners have not yet kept a clean sheet so far this season, a statistic they will need to work on.

Aubameyang managed to grab a brace in Arsenal’s mid-week victory over Vorskia.  Emery will be hoping his Gabonese striker will be able to carry that form in to this weekend’s fixture against Marco Silva’s Everton side and break his Premier League drought.

Everton fans had high hopes for this Premier League after the signings they brought in over the summer.  Although its early days, Richarlison looks like a great signing for the Merseyside club.  Following his great debut, a sending off saw him sidelined for 3 games.  His return to the side will be good news for Marco Silva, who is hoping his side can turn around their fortunes in this fixture.

We are tipping Everton to snatch all 3 points at The Emirates.

  • Correct score: 1-2
  • Bonus: Aubameyang to score anytime
