Arsenal vs Cardiff

Kick-off: Week 24, Tuesday 29th January, 19:45

It’s only right we start match week 24 with the fixture involving Cardiff City after the tragic news surrounding there new record signing, Emiliano Sala, and the pilot of his plane, David Ibbotson, going missing and suspected to have crashed over the English Channels. Our deepest sympathies go out to the families of both men.

Arsenal will go into this game feeling fairly confident they can take all three points and keep or close the gap on fourth place Chelsea. The sides last Premier League match went very well for the Gunners who beat top-four rivals Chelsea 2-0 at the Emirates. They will feel if they can win that one, they should be comfortable this weekend.

It’s hard to say how Cardiff will go into this game. The side may still be feeling shocked and hit by the news of there new signing, or they may go all out in this one to try and give Sala a good send off. Cardiff have beaten expectations already this season with many backing them to face the drop. If they can keep picking up points as they have been, they’ll give themselves a great chance of survival.

Although we would love to see Cardiff win this one after the news last week, we just can’t see it happening. Arsenal are in a very important stage of there season and will now they can’t afford to drop points in games like these.

  • Correct score prediction: Arsenal 3 – 1 Cardiff
  • Odds: 16/1

Fulham vs Brighton

Kick-off: Week 24, Tuesday 29th January, 19:45

Fulham are currently seven points from safety and come into this game off the back of three straight defeats. If they are to have any chance of staying in the Premier League, they must start winning games just like these. The side gave Tottenham a run for there money last time out, conceding a 90th-minute goal to lose the game, but will need more than just a draw in this one.

The reason we’re saying Fulham need to win this one is because Brighton don’t tend to travel that well. They have picked up just eight points on the road this season and if it was just down to away form, the Seagulls would be down in 17th. Glenn Murray is the main threat for Brighton and if Fulham can take him out the game, they are giving themselves a good chance to bag maximum points.

With Fulham’s performance against Spurs last week impressing us, we are expecting them to follow on from that this weekend. As we have said before Brighton tend to struggle on the road and we can see that pattern continuing on Tuesday night.

  • Correct score prediction: Fulham 1 – 0 Brighton
  • Odds: 8/1

Huddersfield vs Everton

Kick-off: Week 24, Tuesday 29th January, 19:45

Huddersfield are looking in a lot of bother at this stage of the season currently on just eleven points and ten points adrift of safety. The close future is looking bleak for the side, but The Terriers did manage to bag themselves a young manager during the last week which could give them the motivation to have a good run to give themselves a chance of staying in the Premier League.

Everton have dropped down to 11th in the Premier League after a very poor run of results. Things looked as if they looking better after the 2-0 win over Bournemouth, but a defeat away to struggling Southampton last time out made it three defeats in four for the side. Manager Marco Silva has said the side will be making no movement in the January transfer window which isn’t much of a surprise after the big money moves in the summer.

Huddersfield would have welcomed the change of management after all the great things David Wagner did for them, but we don’t think that’s going to make much difference. There is too much of a gap in quality between these sides which we think will shine through this week.

  • Correct score prediction: Huddersfield 0 – 2 Everton
  • Odds: 11/1

Wolves vs West Ham

Kick-off: Week 24, Tuesday 29th January, 19:45

This looks as if it could be an interesting encounter between two very attractive sides. Wolves have been by far the best-promoted side this season and are currently 8th in the Premier League. It was a superb game last time out for Wolves who kept fighting to the end to see off Leicester City 4-3 with one of the last kicks of the game. We don’t see a reason why Wolves can’t finish 7th and possibly be in Europe next season.

After a slow start to the season, West Ham have really turned it around and they to will fancy themselves to finish in the top 7. They are two points adrift of Wolves at this stage meaning a win will take them higher up the table but will know a defeat will make European football next season look very hard to get.

With Wolves having a goal fest last time out, we don’t see why we can’t see another this weekend. Both sides have very good players going forward and will want to attack this game with full force.

  • Correct score prediction: Wolves 3 – 2 West Ham
  • Odds: 26/1

Manchester United vs Burnley

Kick-off: Week 24, Tuesday 29th January, 20:00

What a start Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had at Manchester United. He has won five Premier League games on the bounce for the side, including a 1-0 away win over Tottenham a couple of weeks ago. This has put them just three points adrift of Chelsea in fourth and level on points with Arsenal. If they do manage to get the top four come to the end of the season, surely Solskjaer will get the job full time.

After looking in trouble for the last few months, Burnley are now four games unbeaten which has seen them climb four points above the bottom three which is a bit of breathing space. However, they will know if they are to stay in the league they must continue to improve and get points on the board. We can’t see that happening this weekend, but the next month or so will prove crucial for the side.

Manchester United have been on a cracking run and we expect that to carry on this weekend. There’s no denying Burnley have also been on a good run, but when you look at the sides on paper there is a huge difference in quality.

  • Correct score prediction: Manchester United 3 – 0 Burnley
  • Odds: 8/1

Newcastle vs Manchester City

Kick-off: Week 24, Tuesday 29th January, 20:00

Newcastle managed to climb out the bottom three last time out after beating Welsh outfit Cardiff 3-0 at home. They are far from safe at this stage of the season and for sure will be in a fight come to the end of the season. Manager, Rafa Benitez has come out time and time again expressing how much he needs funds to improve the squad but has been getting nothing.

Manchester City have already fallen four points adrift of Liverpool in the title race so will want to make no mistakes in games like these and in truth we don’t think they will. With all players back and fully fit, Manchester City are a very good side and with the likes of Aguero, De Bruyne, Silva, Fernandinho and co all raring to go, they will be very hard to stop.

Newcastle did manage to get a win last time out, but that was against a very different opponent. Manchester City got into the final of the Carabao Cup last week and will be in full confidence going into this one.

  • Correct score prediction: Newcastle 0 – 3 Manchester City
  • Odds: 7/1

Bournemouth vs Chelsea

Kick-off: Week 24, Tuesday 30th January, 19:45

After a dreadful run which saw them drop down to 12th in the Premier League. They did get back to winning ways last time out with a 2-0 win over West Ham on home soil. A top ten finish will be the target for the club and with them just one point off that, they have a very good chance and who knows, they could even finish 7th which is not too far away for the Cherries.

Chelsea would have been lifted after reaching the Carabao Cup final on Thursday night after a penalty shootout victory over Tottenham. Manager, Maurizio Sarri, came out criticizing his side last week for the lack of motivation they have. However, they went out and proved him wrong which could have been exactly what he wanted to happen. The signing of Gonzalo Higuain is a huge boost for the side who have been crying out for regular goalscorer up top.

Bournemouth will be right up against it if they are to get anything from this one. Chelsea are fighting for the top four still and will be full of confidence after getting to a final and signing Gonzalo Higuain.

  • Correct score prediction: Bournemouth 1 – 3 Chelsea
  • Odds: 12/1

Southampton vs Crystal Palace

Kick-off: Week 24, Tuesday 30th January, 19:45

This is a huge game for both sides who are still looking for points to climb away from the bottom of the table before they get into a scrap with other sides. Southampton have been a lot better since the appointment of Ralph Hasenhuttl who looks as if he has got some of the same players who got the club to Europe playing again. A win here and The Saints can start looking up rather than down.

Crystal Palace are on the same number of points at Southampton at this stage showing how similar these two clubs have been this season. Palace were involved in a 4-3 thriller away to Liverpool last time out which shows they are able to compete with the best when they are in form. However, that defeat did make it two on the bounce for the side who will be looking to get back to winning ways.

Home form for Southampton is improving every time the side step out at St Mary’s. The wins over Arsenal and Everton have been the most noticeable and gives us the feeling they could get another this weekend. Palace do travel well and will feel confident, but we think the improved form of the Saints defence will hold out.

  • Correct score prediction: Southampton 2 – 0 Crystal Palace
  • Odds: 11/1

Liverpool vs Leicester

Kick-off: Week 24, Tuesday 30th January, 20:00

Liverpool are still sitting happily at the top of the Premier League, four points clear of Manchester City in second place. They have been very good to watch this season, scoring lots of goals and of course, Mohamed Salah is the centre of all that. They will certainly not want to slip up in games like these to give Manchester City the chance to pounce, but this is not as easy game as it makes out.

Claude Puel is under a lot of pressure at Leicester as it stands and performances have certainly been dropping for the side. However, over Christmas Leicester were able to beat both Chelsea and Manchester City showing they are able to compete with the very best in the league when they are in their best form. But with three defeats in four for the former surprise champions, we can’t see them causing any upsets.

Liverpool will go into this game showing no mercy and will want to make sure they win it and make sure they do it well. If they turn up as they have on most occasions this season, they should walk this one.

  • Correct score prediction: Liverpool 3 – 0 Leicester
  • Odds: 7/1

Tottenham vs Watford

Kick-off: Week 24, Tuesday 30th January, 20:00

Tottenham would have been left disappointed after being dumped out the Carabao Cup in the semifinals last week but will be happy with the performance they put on considering they were without Son, Kane and Alli. They will still be without Harry Kane and Dele Alli this week but could have Son back after his North Korean side got knocked out the Asian Cup. This will be a lift they very much need going into another important game.

Watford have been far from a pushover this season and are currently 7th in the Premier League which could be enough for European football next season if they stay there. They would have been disappointed to only draw with Burnley last time out and will know this is going to be a tougher test. However, with the team four games unbeaten, they will feel confident they can get something from this one.

Tottenham will know they cannot dwell on the fact they have lost some big players due to injury as they still have top four to play for this season. We think they could get the win this weekend, but we certainly do not think Watford will make it easy.

  • Correct score prediction: Tottenham 2 – 1 Watford
  • Odds: 8/1
