EPL week 21 predictions

Everton vs Leicester

Kick-off: Week 21, Tuesday 1st January, 12:30

Everton come into this game having lost three of there last four games, showing how much they have struggled throughout this manic festive period. This poor run has seen them slip down to 10th in the Premier League which is a lot lower than many would have expected them to be at this stage. However, the good thing for the side is it’s very close in that area of the table meaning a couple of good results could make it look a lot better.

Having beaten Chelsea and Manchester City, Leicester were stunned last time out at home to Cardiff as a lot strike from the away side ended what was a good Christmas period for Leicester manager Claude Puel and his team. However, that defeat would have put a downer on the end of the year but one they will want to put right this weekend.

An interesting encounter this one between two sides who have been very hit and miss up to now. With both sides coming into the match looking for an instant reaction, we can see it being very close.

  • Correct score prediction: Everton 1 – 1 Leicester
  • Odds: 7/1

Arsenal vs Fulham

Kick-off: Week 21, Tuesday 1st January, 15:00

Arsenal were on the wrong end of a thumping last time out as Liverpool showed how much of a difference there is between the two sides in a 5-1 thrashing. Arsenal will see this as an important game in their season as it should be one they go on to win. Another defeat here and it makes a top-four finish look a very difficult task indeed.

Fulham are starting to put a good run together with two draws and a win from there last three games. That win came last time out at home to Huddersfield which took them off the foot of the table and within touching distance of getting out the bottom three. Although they are the underdogs, confidence and form is on their side.

Arsenal need this one to go there way because as said before, a top-four place is getting further and further away everytime they slip up. Fulham will go there with no fear knowing anything from this game will be a bonus.

  • Correct score prediction: Arsenal 2 – 0 Fulham
  • Odds: 6/1

Cardiff vs Tottenham

Kick-off: Week 21, Tuesday 1st January, 17:30

Cardiff will be over the moon at the moment after picking up there first away points of the season as they travelled to Leicester. This has kept them three points above the bottom three which up to now is proving they can compete in the league against all the odds. This is a much tougher test but one they and their fans will be up for in Wales.

Tottenham were another big side to be stunned last time out as they were beaten 3-1 at Wembley to Wolves. Harry Kane got Spurs off to a good start with a lovely strike but they just didn’t seem to take there chances and in the second half Wolves punished them for it. A reaction is expected from the side who have now slipped down to third in the Premier League.

Cardiff have been making the Cardiff City Stadium a very hard place to go to this season with the majority of there points being picked up there. They have also scared a couple of the big guns in the past so don’t write them off. But we still think Spurs will have enough.

  • Correct score prediction: Cardiff 1 – 3 Tottenham
  • Odds: 16/1

Bournemouth vs Watford

Kick-off: Week 21, Wednesday 2nd January, 19:45

Bournemouth have now dropped down to 12th in the Premier League after previously being 7th. This comes after a poor run which has seen them lose six of there last seven games. Not only have the Cherries been losing, but they have also been getting thumped which will have an impact on the confidence of the players. Another tough game this weekend but being the home they, they will fancy their chances.

Watford have failed to win in there last two which has also seen them slip down the Premier League to 10th. Both of these sides started the league very well but in recent weeks have been struggling to mean both teams will see this as a perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways.

With Bournemouth being the home team, we fancy them to put an end to there recent blip and get back to winning ways. Although Watford have the better overall recent form, being the home team can make all the difference.

  • Correct score prediction: Bournemouth 1 – 0 Watford
  • Odds: 7/1

Chelsea vs Southampton

Kick-off: Week 21, Wednesday 2nd January, 19:45

When you look at the Premier League table you struggle to work out how they are 11 points adrift of Liverpool when you look at there recent form. They are certainly not a side to mess around with but are a side who have too many hic-ups as it stands to challenge for the league. With a top-four finish under threat, no mistakes will want to be made in games like these.

Southampton has a good start under their new coach but defeats to West Ham and Manchester City both at home has seen them slip on the verge of the relegation zone. They will see this as a game that if they can get anything its a bonus. They have looked a lot better and so much more energetic in recent weeks, but have started to look leggy in there last couple of matches.

With Chelsea being the home side and a much better team on paper, we can’t see anything else but a Blue’s win in this one.

  • Correct score prediction: Chelsea 2 – 0 Southampton
  • Odds: 8/1

Huddersfield vs Burnley

Kick-off: Week 21, Wednesday 2nd January, 19:45

Huddersfield have slipped down to the bottom of the Premier League after a last minute from Fulham broke the hearts of the club last time out. It’s a scary time for the side who just don’t look as if they have enough quality in any position to handle the demands of the Premier League. This is a huge game for them against a Burnley side who have also been struggling and join them in the bottom three.

Burnley, as mentioned above, have had a season to forget up to now and will be fearful of being in a relegation scrap come to the end of the campaign. However, they will see this as a massive opportunity to jump out the bottom three if other results go there way. The win over West Ham on the weekend would have filled them with confidence.

We just cannot see Huddersfield picking up many more points this season. Everytime we watch them they look short in every area of the pitch and with the quality of Burnley, we think they’ll struggle.

  • Correct score prediction: Huddersfield 0 – 2 Burnley
  • Odds: 14/ 1

West Ham vs Brighton

Kick-off: Week 21, Wednesday 2nd January, 19:45

After a solid away win over Southampton the day after Boxing Day, The Hammers would have been left frustrated to have lost 2-0 on the road to Burnley which stopped them moving up to 7th in the Premier League. However, with Brighton in town, they will see this as a perfect opportunity to put that behind them early and try to claim that 7th position.

Brighton don’t and never really have travelled well in the Premier League and with West Ham starting to find there feet in their new Stadium, we think they could struggle yet again this weekend. Glenn Murray is the biggest threat for Brighton who will try to get him in as many good positions as possible. However, the West Ham defence have become solid this season and very tough to break down.

Only one winner for us in this one. West Ham will be frustrated with there performance in their last match and will want to take advantage of a poor travelling Brighton side.

  • Correct score prediction: West Ham 3 – 1 Brighton
  • Odds: 16/1

Wolves vs Crystal Palace

Kick-off: Week 21, Wednesday 2nd January, 19:45

Wolves have been on fire of late with just one defeat in five which came at the hands of Liverpool who are unbeaten. This has seen them climb up to 7th in the Premier League which is unreal considering the side were only promoted to the top flight of English football last season. Could European football be on the cards for the Foxes

Crystal Palace are in some good form of there own and have now just lost once in there last four which has taken them up and away from the bottom three. Let’s not forget that one of those wins was in the home of the reigning champions which really tells us how much quality they have in there squad when they are all on it. This will be a tough game for them but one they can win if they play like they have in recent weeks.

We can see this one end to end and full of goals. Both teams have a huge amount of quality, especially going forward. Could be one of the games to watch this weekend.

  • Correct score prediction: Wolves 3 – 2 Crystal Palace
  • Odds: 25/1

Newcastle vs Manchester United

Kick-off: Week 21, Wednesday 2nd January, 20:00

Newcastle have now failed to win any of there last three games which has seen them edge closer and closer down the table, now just three points above the relegation zone. Rafa Benitez has come out saying that his squad need a miracle to stay in the league after the sides lack activity in the transfer market over the last few years. We think this was more of a dig at owner Mike Ashley than his players.

If we were writing about this game a few weeks ago, we would be saying how negative this Manchester United side are and how much of a underachiever Paul Pogba has been. However, they are now scoring more goal than anyone else in the league and Paul Pogba has scored two goals in both of his last two matches. The sacking of Jose Mourinho has definitely given the side a boost.

Newcastle will need a magical performance to put an end to the run Manchester United are on with there new boss.

  • Correct score prediction: Newcastle 0 – 3 Manchester United
  • Odds: 12/1

Manchester City vs Liverpool

Kick-off: Week 21, Thursday 3rd January, 20:00

What a game we have here to end match week 21. Reigning champions Manchester City welcome top of the league and unbeaten Liverpool to the Etihad in a game which Pep Guardiola has said ‘If we lose (Manchester City), it’s virtually impossible for us to win the league’. This would have put a huge amount of pressure on his players but as they have shown already is pressure they can take.

Liverpool are having a fairytale season, currently, seven points clear of Manchester City, unbeaten, scoring 48 and conceding just 8. It’s been a huge turn around for the side who have been known in recent years for the amount they concede. They have beaten Manchester City in recent times more than once and with the form, they are in they will be feeling very confident they can put them to the sword again.

A very tough game to call with all the pressure on Manchester City to win this one. They will want to win it well as well to put some doubt into the Liverpool players heads going into the rest of the season. Liverpool will be feeling confident in their own abilities and will be wanting to do to the same Manchester City as they’ve done to all over opponents so far this campaign.

  • Correct score prediction: Manchester City 2 – 1 Liverpool
  • Odds: 12/1
