EPL week 19 predictions

Fulham vs Wolves

Kick-off: Week 19, Wednesday 26th December, 12:30

Fulham will be hoping Christmas would have been the time their fortunes change as the side are currently bottom of the Premier League having won just two games so far this season. It’s a worrying time for the club who spent big in the summer to try and stay in the league. If they do end up going straight down, they may have a big financial hit.

Wolves, on the other hand, have thrived since there promotion back to the big time and are currently 10th in the Premier League. Last time out the side were beaten 2-0 at home to Liverpool, but before that, they won three on the bounce which shows how comfortable they are in the league. They will see this as a good chance to get another three points on the board to stay in the top half of the Premier League.

When a side is out of form and struggling, it usually takes a special performance to get out of the hole. But we can’t see that being the case and see Wolves getting back to winning ways.

  • Correct score prediction: Fulham 1 – 3 Wolves
  • Odds: 14/1

Burnley vs Everton

Kick-off: Week 19, Wednesday 26th December, 15:00

Not many people would have expected Burnley to have the season they are having after the history they created last season by getting to the Europa League. However, the side are currently in the bottom three and have lost four of their last five games. Although performances have started to improve, they are still struggling to pick up points which is a worrying sign for Sean Dyche’s men.

Everton were thumped 6-2 on the weekend at home to Tottenham which would have been a huge hit to the confidence of the players. The side started well but the difference in quality soon shone through. Everton are a good side and will be looking to get into the top seven come to the end of the season and will see this as a perfect chance to put that defeat behind them.

In recent years, Burnley have been a tough team to beat at home, but this season that threat has faded which has given opponents more confidence. Everton will want to get the fans back on side after the thumping a few days ago.

  • Correct score prediction: Burnley 0 – 1 Everton
  • Odds: 5/1

Crystal Palace vs Cardiff

Kick-off: Week 19, Wednesday 26th December, 15:00

What a result Crystal Palace are coming into this game off the back of. The Eagles are one of the very few sides who have gone to the Etihad and beat Manchester City in their own backyard in recent years and is a match they can take a lot of confidence from. The same kind of performance this weekend and they shouldn’t have any problem seeing off this Cardiff side.

Cardiff are slipping closer and closer to the bottom three every week and another defeat here could see them slip back down into it. Many backed this side to face the drop come to the end of the season and in truth, that’s hard to argue with. They lack a lot of quality on other teams, the only thing they have going for them is they have a good manager and will always play with a lot of passion.

We can see Crystal Palace making it three wins out of three this Boxing Day after the win over City on the weekend. We think Cardiff will play well, but when Palace are playing well, they are hard to stop.

  • Correct score prediction: Crystal Palace 2 – 0 Cardiff
  • Odds: 8/1

Leicester vs Manchester City

Kick-off: Week 19, Wednesday 26th December, 15:00

Leicester, just like Crystal Palace, will be feeling very confident coming into this one after beating Chelsea away from home on the weekend. With Leicester and Palace beating Man City and Chelsea, it was the first time those two giants in English football had lost at home on the same day since 2008. Leicester will see this as a good time to face Manchester City.

They may see it as a good time, but we see it as the worst time as we think Pep Guardiola will be drilling into his players how important the next week or so is. With City already 4 points behind Liverpool, they have an uphill mountain to climb now and must win games like these if they are to keep the pressure on and win the league come to the end of the season.

Leicester have pulled off many shocks over the last few years and will want to do so again this Boxing day. However, we can’t see that being the case with Manchester City looking to get back to winning ways.

  • Correct score prediction: Leicester 1 – 3 Manchester City
  • Odds: 14/1

Liverpool vs Newcastle

 Kick-off: Week 19, Wednesday 26th December, 15:00

Liverpool will not want to make any mistakes this weekend having secured a four-point advantage over Manchester City before Christmas. The side are still yet to lose so far this season with defender Dejan Lovren coming out and saying they can match Arsenal’s invincible season. The Reds star players all performing very well, we can’t see them dropping any points.

Newcastle have picked up four points from there last two games coming into this one but did draw to bottom of the league Fulham last time out which would have been extremely frustrating for the side. They will know they’re going to be up against it this week and if anything will just be looking to give Liverpool a game and keep the score deficit to a minimum.

We can only see one winner this week and that’s Liverpool. Salah is looking at his best yet again and with Van Dijk, Allison, Mane and co also performing, they are looking a great force.

  • Correct score prediction: Liverpool 4 – 0 Newcastle
  • Odds: 16/1

Manchester United vs Huddersfield

Kick-off: Week 19, Wednesday 26th December, 15:00

Manchester United looked a different side on the weekend, beating Cardiff 5-1 on the road which was the first time a Man United side have scored 5 goals in a game since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson. The sacking of Jose Mourinho was always going to happen and now it has, we don’t think the board at the club will have any regrets. The only decision for them will be if they maintain and stick with current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or go with someone else.

Huddersfield failed to beat another team around them on the weekend as they were beaten 3-1 at home to Southampton. This has left them in 19th and looking in a lot of danger at this stage. With United still going through the honeymoon period with their new manager, we don’t think Huddersfield stand much chance this weekend.

Manchester United will want nothing short of a win this weekend and if they are to get into the top four come to the end of the season against all the odds, they know they must not through these kind of points away.

  • Correct score prediction: Manchester United 3 – 0 Huddersfield
  • Odds: 12/1

Tottenham vs Bournemouth

Kick-off: Week 19, Wednesday 26th December, 15:00

Tottenham would have been delighted with the performance they put on just before Christmas as they beat Everton 6-2 away from home. Dele Alli looked as if he may have picked up a knock in the match which is a worrying sign for the club, but with the huge amount of quality this team have they should still have enough to win this one.

Bournemouth got back to winning ways last time out with a 2-0 win at home to Brighton. Although it was a good performance and a fantastic result, this one promises to be a much tougher test. Callum Wilson has been the biggest threat for the Cherries this season which has seen interest come in from Chelsea. If Bournemouth are to get anything from this one, you can be sure he’ll be involved.

Tottenham have been playing better away from home then they have at Wembley this season, but we think they will get what they are looking for from this one. Bournemouth won’t make it easy for them at all, but we think they’ll have just enough.

  • Correct score prediction: Tottenham 2 – 1 Bournemouth
  • Odds: 8/1

Brighton vs Arsenal

Kick-off: Week 19, Wednesday 26th December, 17:15

Brighton are currently in the worst form they have shown all season with three defeats on the bounce. It’s not a good time to be struggling with the Christmas period such a busy time and with Arsenal in town, they are not going to have an easy afternoon by any stretch of the imagination. However, they have had some good results against the big boys in recent years which will give fans a reason to be optimistic.

Arsenal went 22 games without defeat but then lightning struck twice with a defeat to Southampton in the league before another loss to arch-rivals Tottenham in the Quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup. However, they managed to get back to winning ways on the weekend with a 3-1 win over Burnley at the Emirates. They’ll want nothing short of three points from this one to keep the pressure on the top four.

We can’t see Brighton going into this game already beaten, even though they are currently going through a bad patch. Arsenal will want to make sure they take full advantage of Brighton’s form and get all three points.

  • Correct score prediction: Brighton 1 – 2 Arsenal
  • Odds: 9/1

Watford vs Chelsea

Kick-off: Week 19, Wednesday 26th December, 19:30

Watford look as if they have put their foot back on the gas going into the busy Christmas period with back to back wins and no defeat in three. They will see this as a good chance to take on Chelsea and know a win could take them above Manchester United and into 6th if other results go their way.

Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri, has come out this week saying he is worried about the mentality of his Chelsea side and says that’s the reason why they are struggling to keep up with the title race. The defeat at home to Leicester on the weekend may have just proven that. They will want to get back to winning ways this weekend and really, they need to with Arsenal breathing down their necks trying to get into the top four.

We can see this being an entertaining encounter between an inform Watford side who take on a Chelsea team who will be looking for nothing short of three points.

  • Correct score prediction: Watford 1 – 3
  • Odds: 10/1

Southampton vs West Ham

Kick-off: Week 19, Thursday 27th December, 19:30

Southampton have won their last two games on the bounce at home to Arsenal and away to Huddersfield which has seen them climb out of the bottom three. Danny Ings has proven important since his return from injury with three goals in two games. Another win here and they could climb 6 points above the bottom three after previously looking in deep trouble. There’s no doubt the sacking of Mark Hughes and appointment of Ralph Hasenhuttl has had a huge impact.

West Ham had won four games on the bounce before losing to Watford last time out and before would have seen them as a game they can get an easy three points. However, with a new look Saints side, they could be in for a tough afternoon. West Ham had a shocking start but have now climbed up to 12th, just three points off 7th which is a huge turnaround.

A good match this to end match week 19 of the 2018/19 season with two inform sides looking to get all three points. With Southampton playing a higher standard of football, full of confidence and at home, we think they could edge it.

  • Correct score prediction: Southampton 2 – 1 West Ham
  • Odds: 5/1
