epl week 38 predictions

Brighton v Manchester City

Kick-off: Week 38, Sunday 12th May, 15:00

Brighton will be looking to break Manchester City hearts in this one as they have the chance to stop there opponents winning the league if they take points off them. The pressure is off the side who are now safe and will be playing in the Premier League next season which could work in their favour.

It’s simple for Manchester City. If they win the match, they win the league. If they drop any points, the likelihood is the will be overtaken at the last hurdle with Liverpool looking to take any kind of opening. The Vincent Kompany screamer was enough last time out at home to Leicester to give them three points and in the driving seat going into this game.

We can’t see there being any big shocks in this one. Those Manchester City players have been winning tense matches like this for a couple of seasons now and we think they’ll do the same here.

  • Correct score prediction: Brighton 0 – 2 Manchester City
  • Odds: 8/1

Burnley v Arsenal

Kick-off: Week 38, Sunday 12th May, 15:00

Burnley have picked up of late and have finished the season very strong compared to how it all started. This made them safe a month or so ago now which has made life easier for Sean Dyche and his men. They will be looking to see the season off with a positive result in this on to put them in a good place going into next season.

Arsenal have all but blown there chances of Champions League football next season after a run of poor results has seen them drop three points behind Tottenham going into the last game. Even if they do win, they will have to hope Tottenham lose and lose badly as their goal difference is not working in the Gunners favour.

With the very poor away form Arsenal have this season, we think they could struggle yet again against a Burnley side who tend to be very organised.

  • Correct score prediction: Burnley 1 – 1 Arsenal
  • Odds: 8/1

Crystal Palace v Bournemouth

Kick-off: Week 38, Sunday 12th May, 15:00

Crystal Palace have had a very hit and miss season. Yes, they are safe and have been for a while, but you’re never sure how they are going to turn up. They have produced some huge shocks this season, including a huge away win over Manchester City, but they do tend to slip up in matches like these.

Bournemouth’s second half of the season has been one to forget and now they will have to settle for the bottom half of the table finish which will be a disappointment for the side who started the campaign so well. Eddie Howe will just want his men to finish off well here to give them something going into next season.

Nothing really to play for in this one for both sides but it will decide who finished above one another. Bournemouth need a win whereas a draw will be enough for Palace.

  • Correct score prediction: Crystal Palace 1 – 0 Bournemouth
  • Odds: 7/1

Fulham v Newcastle

Kick-off: Week 38, Sunday 12th May, 15:00

Fulham will be playing Championship football again next season after just one season in the top flight so will want to make sure they put on a show in this one for the fans who have supported them all season. Things are looking on the up for the club who have been better since Scott Parker took over as the manager.

Newcastle are another side who will just be looking to finish the season well and hopefully sway Rafa’s decision to stay at the club as his future as the manager of the side is still in doubt. It’s a good chance for them to finish the season with three points and give them something to build on going into next season.

With Fulham playing better of late, we think they could give this Newcastle side a game.

  • Correct score prediction: Fulham 2 – 2 Newcastle
  • Odds: 20/1

Leicester v Chelsea

Kick-off: Week 38, Sunday 12th May, 15:00

Leicester played very well last time out as they only lost 1-0 away to Manchester City which isn’t good to lose, but as many of you would agree, keeping the score down to just 1-0 at the Etihad is good going. The players look a lot happier under Brendan Rodgers which could be good for them going into next season.

Chelsea have secured Champions League football for next season already even after a very shaky patch over the last couple of months and will now want to secure third place which can only be caught by Tottenham on the final day of the season. Could this be the last time we see Eden Hazard in the Premier League in a Chelsea shirt?

Although Leicester have looked better of late, we fancy Chelsea to finish the season well and bag all three points.

  • Correct score prediction: Leicester 1 – 2 Chelsea
  • Odds: 12/1

Liverpool v Wolves

Kick-off: Week 38, Sunday 12th May, 15:00

Liverpool come into this game off the back of one of the there best nights in their history after turning around a 3-0 first leg score, winning 4-0 to get to the final of the Champions League for the second time in a row. They will be looking to take advantage of any slip-up Manchester City may have on the final day as they look for there first Premier League title in 29 years.

Wolves have secured 7th place in the Premier League already which is there highest ever finish and could mean they’ll play in the Europa League next season which is a huge achievement for the club who were promoted just last season.

With so much at stake for Liverpool, we think they’ll win this one, but not without a fight from Wolves.

  • Correct score prediction: Liverpool 2 – 1 Wolves
  • Odds: 14/1

Manchester United v Cardiff

Kick-off: Week 38, Sunday 12th May, 15:00

After a big push after the take over of Ole Gunnar Solkjaer, Manchester United have failed to get into the top four meaning they will have to settle for Europa League next season which is not what the players there will be wanting to be in. They certainly have a lot of work to do next season plus in the summer keeping hold of the big names in the squad.

Cardiff were relegated back to Championship last weekend which would come as a huge disappointment to Neil Warnock and his men. However, they have been below par for much of the season which make it obvious why they are one of the three sides going down this season.

We can’t see Manchester United slipping up again in this one after the draw with Huddersfield last time out.

  • Correct score prediction: Manchester United 2 – 0 Cardiff
  • Odds: 6/1

Southampton v Huddersfield

Kick-off: Week 38, Sunday 12th May, 15:00

Southampton have won more games in the next 5 months of 2019 than they did in the entire of 2018 which shows how much they have improved under Ralph Hassenhutl. It seems like there is a lot of excitement going around the south coast club for next season, but they must finish this season strong.

Huddersfield have been relegated for some time now and have not since been able to put a good run of results together which is very disappointing. Unlike Cardiff and Fulham, it’s hard to see this side making a challenge to come straight back to the Premier League and if they did, we think they’ll have the same kind of problem.

We can see The Saints ending the season well with a comfortable home win.

  • Correct score prediction: Southampton 3 – 0 Huddersfield
  • Odds: 14/1

Tottenham v Everton

Kick-off: Week 38, Sunday 12th May, 15:00

Tottenham exited the Champions League at the semi-final stage last time out which is a disappointment for the club, but this season has also been a success as not many would have expected them to get that far. Any points in this one will guarantee a top-four finish, even though it looks all but secured already.

A win or draw for Everton and it will mean they will secure 8th in the Premier League which is a very good finish considering they had a stage during the season where they were really struggling. If they can get a bit more consistency in results, there is no reason why this side can not challenge higher up the league.

With Tottenham being the home side, we think they’ll have enough to get maximum points.

  • Correct score prediction: Tottenham 1 – 0 Everton
  • Odds: 6/1

Watford v West Ham

Kick-off: Week 38, Sunday 12th May, 15:00

Watford have missed out on a top 7 finish and could now finish as low as 10th after Everton and Leicester picking up towards the end of the season. All in all, it has been a good season for the Hornets and one they can take a lot of confidence from. Watford are starting to become a side sides worry about facing.

West Ham have been very up and down this season. After an awful start, they got themselves out of trouble but since the new year, they have really tailed off and took the foot off the gas which has had an impact of there league position as they miss out on European football once again.

Manchester City have so much quality in their squad and having won the Premier League last season, they will know how to win matches like these and dealing with the pressure.

  • Correct score prediction: Manchester City 2 – 0 Leciester
  • Odds: 8/1
