With no English clubs in the Champions League next week and everything to play for throughout the table, you should investigate our Premier League predictions for an exciting and fruitful weekend of sporting action.
The big game of the weekend, for many reasons, is clearly the Manchester derby. Only a few weeks ago, Manchester City were the most likely to challenge Chelsea for the title. Now City are in fourth going into this weekend’s game. Although, with a derby game, you can forget about the form book and expect a tense encounter. In recent years, City have outplayed United at Old Trafford, but you get the sense that United are more resilient and that City have lost a bit of their edge.
We wouldn’t be surprised if we see the goals in this game come from the defenders. You should get great odds on defenders scoring and set pieces are likely to break the deadlock. United have been weak from corners this season and Vincent Kompany has a great record of getting important goals against United. We think the smart odds are on Kompany coming up with an important goal.
Elsewhere, we think a shrewd bet maybe on an upset in the QPR versus Chelsea game. QPR are at home and look a different team as they play for their lives in the Premier League. Chelsea will be without Diego Costa for the next few weeks and so the pressure will be on Hazard to produce a result. QPR have scored seven goals in their last two games, so they are likely to get a few against Chelsea. It could be a case of who can score the most in this crucial London derby and without Costa, Chelsea could be in for a tough game.
