Location: Camp Nou
After an extremely turbulent summer, Barcelona finally return to La Liga action against Villarreal at Camp Nou. It is Ronald Koeman‘s first game in charge. There is so much still up in the air; after the Lionel Messi saga was resolved with him deciding to stay, Luis Suarez departed.
This one won’t be easy despite Barça enjoying a great home record. Villarreal started this season with a 2-1 win over Eibar while also winning four of their last five away games at the back end of last term. Messi’s presence will inspire the home side, though. We think a Barça win at 5/4 with Bet365 is the best bet.
Why are we backing Barcelona here?
Barcelona only lost one home game last season, and they are too strong to ignore here. Messi has also scored nine goals in his last eight games at Camp Nou.
Back the Argentine to score first here and you’ll get odds of 12/5 with Bet365. Villarreal have also lost of their last four games.
What other markets are worth a look?
Barcelona haven’t scored a goal at home in the first half, minus an own goal, since mid-June. There may well be value in backing a draw HT/Barça FT bet at 10/3 with Bet365.
The Blaugrana have also kept just three clean sheets at home in the same time, so look at Barça & BTTS at 7/4 with Bet365.
