Bayer Leverkusen Vs Werder Bremen
Leverkusen have made a flying start to the season, winning all five of their competitive games so far. All their new summer signings have hit the ground running and I fully expect them to maintain their sole leadership come the end of this gameweek. Werder Bremen lost a number of key players this summer and are weak away from home. For that reason I’m backing a home win.

Borussia Dortmund Vs Freiburg
This is the first of three home games in 11 days for Jurgen Klopp’s men and I fully expect the Yellow Submarine to see off the challenge of Freiburg. Dortmund’s start to the season has been hampered by injuries to key players and Klopp will be sweating over the fitness of Marco Reus, who limped out of Germany’s game against Scotland with an ankle injury. Reus will miss this game but Klopp will hope to have him back for the crunch tie against Arsenal on Tuesday.

Bayern Munich v Stuttgart
The reigning champions gave a poor account of themselves against Schalke at the Gelsenkirchen and have so far failed to illustrate their free-flowing, entertaining football we have come to expect of them. Pep Guardiola is experimenting with a new 3-4-3 formation and this game against a Schalke side low on confidence, is an ideal opportunity for the Bavarians to show off their new ideas. I’m expecting a dominant display from Bayern.

Lyon Vs Monaco
These two giants of French football have started the season in disastrous fashion. Lyon are yet to win a game and have also bowed out of the Europa League in the Play-off Round. New manager Hubert Fournier has found life extremely difficult and Lyon’s extensive injury list has certainly not aided his cause. Monaco meanwhile lost stars Falcao and James Rodriguez this summer and have struggled to find any consistency in their absence. A victory is essential for both sides here but I feel they will cancel each other out at the Stade de Gerland.

Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid
What a game this is geared up to be. Real Madrid suffered a humbling defeat against Sociedad before the international break. Some may argue that complacency got to this current crop of Galacticos, but it just proves that ability alone is never enough. Oddly enough, I feel their previous result will work in their favour and give them the drive and determination to put it right in the Madrid derby. Atletico Madrid do not look like the same team either, they have picked up 4 points so far but if they are to maintain their previous standards they must do better. Form is often irrelevant in a fixture of this magnitude, as passion takes over and the winners are often decided by who wants it more.
The international break would have given management ample time to reflect on the start to the season, and I fully expect a tight encounter ending in a score-draw.

Barcelona vs Athletic
I was spot on with Barcelona last week, narrowly overcoming a stubborn Villarreal side. I expect this match to be different, Barcelona love playing at the Nou Camp and very rarely drop points. Messi and co will be raring to go and exploit one of their Madrid rivals who are guaranteed to drop points. Athletic overcame the early season loss by cruising 3-0 against Levante. Atheltic know that Barcelona are more vulnerable than they once were, however they must have a perfect game plan should they manage to pick up any points against the catalan giants. I fully expect that Barcelona will have too much for an organised Athletic side, winning by a fairly comfortable margin.
