Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad
Cristiano Ronaldo rightfully got banned after losing his discipline during a nervy match against Cordoba. David Moyes has plenty to be confident about, after beating Barcelona earlier this month as they continued to climb up the table. However, their away form is something that must improve, and there is no better place to start than at the Bernabeu. Gareth Bale will be relishing the opportunity to be the main focal point of attack, and quickly proved his capabilities after winning and converting the match-winning penalty against Cordoba. I have no doubt that Real Sociedad are capable of coming away with a point, and I believe that it will be a tightly-contested affair. However, Gareth Bale will step up his game and see them through.

Eibar vs Atletico Madrid
Eibar, the surprise package of La Liga are sitting comfortably in 8th place despite losing out to Real Sociedad last weekend. Atletico Madrid go into this game following an emotional affair against Barcelona, which saw Ardan Turan launch his boot at the referee’s assistant! However, the passion and frustration shown in that match epitomises what the club is about, and I doubt Diego Simeone will be too disheartened by that defeat. Unfortunately, I feel it will be a a season where they just fall short in every competition. However, that will not see them fighting till the end. I’m predicting Eibar will be confident at home as they will have nothing to lose, but they will come undone against top-quality side.

Barcelona vs Villarreal
The storm surrounding Barcelona seems to have settled, as they have recovered brilliantly following a defeat against Real Sociedad a while ago. Their next 4 fixtures saw the side score 13 league goals, conceding just one. They will be difficult to play against, despite playing a tough mid-week game against the current La Liga holders. Villarreal are certainly no pushovers, and will give the Catalan side a run for their money. However, I do not see anything getting past Enrique’s in form team. I’m predicting a comfortable home win.

PSG vs Rennes
PSG face Rennes in the Friday night game, bidding to close the gap at top to just a point, albeit having played a game more than Lyon. An Ibrahimovic penalty rescued all three points in a crucial away win at high-flying St Etienne last weekend and Laurent Blanc will urge his charges to build up some momentum ahead of a busy February schedule. Rennes are never an easy side to play against but have struggled for consistency this season and find themselves in 10th position. I’m expecting a comfortable home win for the capital side.

Monaco vs Lyon
The big game of the weekend in Ligue 1 sees 5th place Monaco welcome leaders Lyon to the Stade Louis II. Lyon’s title credentials will undoubtedly be put to the test against a resurgent Monaco side, who have not lost a game in all competitions since November and who are still fighting for trophies on four fronts. The big talking point in the build up to the game has been the absence of star man Alexandre Lacazette, who has been ruled out through injury. The 23-year old who has been at the club since he was 10, has been in sparkling form this season scoring 21 goals in 22 matches. If Lyon can conjure up a victory without Lacazette then will surely be considered as one of the favourites for this year’s title but I feel they may slip up on Sunday

Wolfsburg vs Bayern Munich
The champions’ trip to 2nd placed Wolfsburg on Friday is the first Bundesliga game in almost six weeks following the winter break. Winger Franck Ribery has been ruled out for three games after tearing a muscle in his right thigh during training but Guardiola will be confident of victory nonetheless. Bayern have only lost twice since October 2012, both times after they had already wrapped up the title last season. The Bavarians remain unbeaten this season and sit 11 points clear of the hosts. This is one of the trickier trips for Bayern but I still feel they will get their first victory of 2015 on Friday.
