Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid

This fascinating fixture will have some added spice after Real Madrid stopped their rivals from winning a historic double after Sergio Ramos had his say in the dying moments of last years final. The dynamics of this fixture are always interesting as Diego Simeone has gone on a 6 match unbeaten run against Real Madrid. Ancelotti believes his side have a 50-50 chance of qualification and I have to agree with him. There is no doubt that Real Madrid have the advantage in terms of quality, however that is not always the deciding factor in a fixture of this magnitude. I’m predicting a full-strength Real Madrid to send their fans away happy with a score-draw to set them up nicely for the return leg.

Juventus vs Monaco

This fixture is probably not the most eagerly anticipated of the Quarter Finals, however I firmly believe Juventus can be the surprise package in Europe following their consistent local domination. Their midweek defeat against Parma is highly uncharacteristic and I believe that it will act as a reality check and ensure complacency does not set in to the soon to be Italian Champions. Monaco showed against Arsenal that they have the quality and desire to cause damage and must be taken seriously, and I believe Allegri will definitely learn from Wenger’s mistakes in the last round. I’m expecting Juventus to dominate possession and be solid at the back, resulting in a comfortable home win.

FC Porto vs Bayern Munich

Pep Guardiola took over a side who had won it all. That left him with the near impossible task of improving that Bayern Munich team and keeping up the winning mentality that made them so great. I believe he has succeeded and making them a more formidable opponent, however it will count for nothing in the history books if they do not at least equal the feats of the 2013 side. Porto face a fight for their local league title and will welcome this midweek distraction against a top side. I’m expecting the Estadio de Dragao to be rocking which will make it difficult for the Germans, however they have enough experience to cope with the atmosphere and they will come out on top over 90 minutes.

Paris Saint German vs Barcelona

PSG are now the real deal. Defeating a stubborn Jose Mourinho side cast any doubts pundits had about the French team aside. Since the turn of the year, Barcelona have looked like a different team and will be a new threat to the team they faced back in the group stage. It is a shame that Zlatan Ibrahimovic can’t remind his former employers of what they are missing as his unfortunate red-card against Chelsea has left the Swede suspended. Cavani is more than capable of filling the central role and will relish the opportunity to make the difference at the biggest stage. I expect PSG to be full of confidence and take the game to Barcelona with a mixture of power and composure. However, I cannot see the likes of Messi, Suarez and Neymar leaving Paris without causing any damage and will get a vital away goal.
