Inter vs Empoli
Inter were extremely poor as they failed to really challenge a more determined Lazio side in Rome and were eventually beaten 2-0. Empoli played out a 0-0 bore draw at home to Bologna to maintain their mid-table position and will look to take on as many lessons as they can following their mixed run of form this campaign. Inter have enough to win this.
Bologna vs Milan
Bologna seemed content on playing out a 0-0 draw in Empoli as they are all but safe from relegation and will look forward to more Serie A football next season. Milan were moments away from an embarrassing defeat in what has been a season to forget for the Nerazzurri, as a late Menez penalty secured a point for his side as the game ended 3-3. I reckon the home side have enough to hold out for a point.
Roma vs Chievo
Roma will once again be grateful for the influence of club legend Francesco Totti has on his team, since despite being 39 years old the talisman still has enough vigor to turn the tables in his sides favor as substitute performances in recent weeks have shown. Chievo fought hard and did well to hold a stuttering Fiorentina at home as the Giolloblu consolidate their 9th place position. Home win expected.
Atalanta vs Udinese
Bar a late consolation goal Atalanta failed to really threaten the Napoli backline as they were beaten down south. Udinese lost their 18th game of the season after they were thrashed 1-5 in front of a disgruntled home crowd. Just one point separates these two sides but I reckon the home side can pip this.
Carpi vs Lazio
After their 2-0 loss at the Juventus Stadium Carpi have been dragged into the relegation scrape once again following Palermo’s home win. Lazio showed rare signs of good football as they outplayed a disorganized Inter side at the Olimpico to give their fans something to cheer about after a poor season for the Biancocelesti. I predict an exciting game of football which will end in a draw.
Fiorentina vs Palermo
Fiorentina failed to make the most of their chances as they were held in Carpi as La Viola will most likely finish the season in 5th place. Palermo did their survival chances a world of good after beating Sampdoria at home to go level on points with 17th place Carpi. I am afraid the Sicilians will have little luck in Florence.
Frosinone vs Sassuolo
Despite playing for their lives Frosinone were undone by a late penalty in what would have been a historic victory for the Serie A newcomers, who are now four points from safety with just two games to go. Sassuolo did just enough to beat an already relegated Verona to all but secure Europa League football for next season. Close game expected which I expect will end in a draw.
Sampdoria vs Genoa
Both sides lost their respective games as Sampdoria were beaten by Palermo and Genoa lost at home after a Roma comeback. With just three points between these two struggling sides do not expect a great Derby della Lanterna however I am sure the game will not be missing any of it’s usual ferocity.
Verona vs Juventus
Verona were the first side in the league to be relegated from the Serie A in what has been a dismal season for the Gialloblu. Juventus are in party mode after securing their 5th consecutive title two weeks ago and I have no doubt they will win comfortably in this David vs Goliath affair.
Torino vs Napoli
Torino romped to a 1-5 win in Udine as they hope to end the season in a mid-table position after a very poor start. Napoli won at home a week after conceding the league to rivals Juventus. With Roma breathing down their backs for the all imporant second place Sarri’s men still need a win and I reckon they have enough to do so.
Juventus vs Napoli
What a week it’s been for Juventus, not only did they qualify for the Champions League final but a second string side also beat Inter at the San Siro. Benitez’s men squeezed past relegated Casena in a slim 3-2 home win as his squad continue to struggle. Allegri might chose to rest some men after the Coppa Italia final however I reckon they still have enough to down this struggling Napoli team.
Genoa vs Inter
Genoa’s superb season continued as they came back from a goal down to win 1-4 in Atalanta and are very close to securing Europa League football. Once again a series of defensive blunders saw Inter lose out to eternal rivals Juventus and now need a miracle to qualify for Europa League next season. This will be a close game and considering both these’s side form I reckon a a home win is on the cards.
Empoli vs Sampdoria
Empoli survived the drop this term thanks to a number of good performances and will hope to improve further next season. Sampdoria are on a fine run of form and even though they were beaten by a better Lazio side on Saturday evening remain in the hunt for Europa League football. Considering what is at stake for the visitors, I reckon Mihajlovic’s side can win this.
Cesena vs Cagliari
Both these sides have been relegated from the Serie A following a disappointing season and are playing for nothing but pride on Sunday afternoon. I predict a pretty dull encounter between these two, dispirited sides.
Chievo vs Atalanta
Chievo were downed on their travels to Torino while Atalanta were unable to hold off an attacking Genoa side. The home side can thank a improvement in 2015 for their survival while Atalanta are looking like a shadow of their former-selves, a side who until recent seasons were giving even the big guns a run for their money. I predict the home side have enough to win this.
Lazio vs Roma
What is already a hotly contested fixture between these local rivals, has an added incentive this year, as both teams from Rome go head to head for the last two remaining Champions League spots. Lazio have probably been the surprise package of the season climbing steadily up the table in 2015. Roma on the contrary have been shocking since the Christmas break, and despite a superb start, quickly fell behind runaway winners Juventus. Considering the home side’s better recent form, I am backing Lazio to win this.
Palermo vs Fiorentina
Despite being outplayed in Sardinia Palermo showed enough character to wear off the home sides threats to win 0-1. Fiorentina bounced back from their humiliating Europa League semi-final elimination in a 3-0 home win over lowly Parma. I predict a score draw is on the cards.
Parma vs Verona
Even though Parma pulled up their socks and registered a number of positive results over the past few months, their off field troubles proved too much for Donadoni’s men. Verona have done enough to secure a mid-table position this season, however I am positive that Mandorlini will aim to bolster his ranks in the summer break. With Parma all but down and out Verona are favorites to win this.
Udinese vs Sassuolo
Despite taking an early lead Udinese were unable to hold off a determined Roma side at the Olimpico and will have to settle for a bottom half of the table finish, in what has been a dire season for Stramacioni’s squad. Sassuolo are just a couple of points above le Zebrette in the standings and will be pleased with their season considering last term they were so avoided relegation with just a few weeks to spare. I predict a close game between these sides who could both do with three points.
Milan vs Torino
Milan were downed by a superb Berardi hat-trick in the early Sunday afternoon fixture. Inzaghi’s men ended the game with nine men in what has been a season to forget for the Rossoneri. Torino comfortably downed Chievo on their home soil, however have not done enough to qualify for Europa League this season. This will be a close encounter between a struggling Milan side and a tough Torino side at the San Siro.
Liverpool vs Chelsea
Liverpool will have left Wembley with a feeling that they could have done far better. Only the introduction of Andy Carroll sparked them into life and was almost enough to force the game into extra time. Petr Cech’s fingertips somehow kept out a Carroll header with help from the crossbar. Chelsea have little to play for in terms of the Premier League standing with their focus now turning to Munich where they can force their way back into next years competition with a victory. Following Carroll’s excellent cameo at Wembley I expect him to start and score in a home win.
Carroll to score the first goal in a 2-1 home win is at an odd of 46/1
