Premier League – Big Predictions – Week 29
West Brom Vs Arsenal
West Bromwich Albion visited Everton in Gameweek 28 and were on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline at Goodison Park. The Baggies have had an impressive campaign to date but have now lost two straight Premier League fixtures. Arsenal were in FA Cup action on Saturday and booked their place at Wembley with a comfortable win. The Gunners have lost three of their last four in the EPL and will find life difficult here. Crystal Palace Vs Watford
Crystal Palace have won back-to-back Premier League fixtures to give their chances of survival a huge boost. The Eagles will be hopeful they can make it three wins on the bounce when they host Watford on Saturday. The Hornets make the short trip to Palace without an EPL victory in their last three outings. Three points here will see Palace put clear daylight between themselves and the Relegation Zone. Home Win Expected at Selhurst Park – Back a Crystal Palace Win Here.
Everton Vs Hull
Everton picked up another three points on Saturday to boost their aspirations of European Football. The Toffees made light work of a West Brom side who have been in decent form in recent weeks. Lukaku is on red hot form and Hull will need to keep close tabs on the Belgian forward. Hull will be full of confidence following their important 2-1 win over Swansea. The Tigers remain in the bottom three and face a tall order here. Home Win Expected at Goodison Park – Back an Everton Win Here.
Stoke Vs Chelsea
Stoke City defied many Predictions in their last Premier League outing when they held Manchester City to a 0-0 draw. The Potters have once again made The Bet365 stadium a fortress and are not often beaten on home soil. Chelsea took a huge step towards the title by seeing off West Ham in Gameweek 27. The Blues are ten points clear heading into Gameweek 29 and will be keen to keep their rivals at a safe distance. All Square at The Bet365 Stadium – Back a Score Draw Here.
Sunderland Vs Burnley
Sunderland are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table after losing three straight EPL fixtures. The Black Cats are in all sorts of trouble and need to start picking up points if they are to avoid playing Championship Football next Season. Burnley have struggled in recent weeks and are without a win in five Premier League fixtures. Home Win Expected at The Stadium of Light – Back a Sunderland Victory Here.
West Ham Vs Leicester
West Ham United were one of the few teams to feature in Gameweek 28. The Hammers were once again on the losing side and have won just a single game in their last five Premier League outings. Leicester City have seen their fortunes improve since the departure of Claudio Ranieri. The Foxes have won back-to-back Premier League fixtures and are three points clear of the Relegation Zone. All Square at The London Stadium – Back a Score Draw Here.
Bournemouth Vs Swansea
Bournemouth picked up an important win over West Ham in Gameweek 28. The Cherries gave themselves some breathing room and now sit three points clear of the Relegation Zone. Swansea visited Hull on Saturday but came out on the losing side following a 2-1 defeat. The Swans have struggled on the road in recent weeks but have faced tough opposition away from home. Home Win Expected at The Vitality Stadium – Back a Bournemouth Victory Here.
Middlesborough Vs Manchester United
Middlesborough are in a dire run of form and have lost three of their last four Premier League outings without scoring a goal in over 360 minutes of football. Boro are deep in the Relegation Zone and have plenty of work to do if they are to preserve their Premier League status. Manchester United were in FA Cup action on Monday but were defeated by Chelsea. Herrera will join Ibrahimovic on the sidelines through suspension with Rashford expected to lead the line. Away Win Expected at The Riverside Stadium – Back a Manchester United Win Here.
Spurs Vs Southampton
Spurs booked their ticket to Wembley over the weekend which saw them step aside from Premier League commitments. Tottenham received bad news on Harry Kane’s ankle injury which will see the forward miss several weeks of action. Southampton have been scoring plenty of goals in recent weeks with 8 goals scored in their last 2 Premier League outings. Should be an entertaining clash with both sides keen to pick up three points as Pochettino welcomes his old side to North London. Home Win Expected at White Hart Lane – Back a Spurs Win Here.
Manchester City Vs Liverpool
Do not rule Manchester City out of the title race just yet. The Citizens have put together an excellent run of form and are still serious contenders despite being 10 points adrift of League leaders Chelsea. Pep Guardiola’s side know they need all three points here after a disappointing draw against Stoke in Gameweek 27. Liverpool took advantage of their match against Burnley and fought hard for a 2-1 victory on Sunday. The Reds are within one point of City and will be keen to avoid defeat. Home Win Expected at The Etihad Stadium – Back a Manchester City Win Here.
Torino vs Inter
Tornio were comfortably beaten on their travels to the Olimpico, losing 3-1 to a stronger Lazio side. Inter were on fire at the San Siro on Sunday afternoon as they downed a disorganised Atalanta 7-1 to the delight of the home crowd. Considering the attacking prowess of both sides I am backing an exciting score draw.
Milan vs Genoa
Despite being second best on the night Milan were very close to snatching a point at the Juventus stadium only for the home side to be awarded a very late penalty in the most controversial of circumstances as Montella’s side left empty handed and frustrated. Genoa fans were also left licking their wounds last weekend after losing out to local rivals Sampdoria to the dismay of their home crowd. Home win expected.
Empoli vs Napoli
Empoli were pummelled 4-0 on their travels to Chievo as the side from Florence continue to struggle and are fortunate to still be seven points clear of the bottom three. As expected Napoli comfortably saw off the likes of Crotone at he San Paolo on Sunday afternoon to remain two points behind second place Roma.
Atalanta vs Pescara
This is without a doubt Atalanta’s best season for over a decade as they currently sit in sixth place and you would be forgiven in thinking they are among the bottom three on Sunday as they were completely thorn to shreds by a superb Inter squad, who were 5-0 up within the opening 25 minutes. Pescara lost their 20th game of the season to remain in last place and will most likely be the first side in the league to be mathematically relegated in a few weeks. Gasperini’s men to bounce back.
Bologna vs Chievo
Bologna rode their luck and can thank the sharpness of front man Destro for finding the net and securing all three points for his side in Sassuolo. Chievo made easy work of strugglers Empoli to remain in 11th place. I am backing a score draw.
Cagliari vs Lazio
After losing 1-5 to Inter two weeks ago Cagliari put on a much more spirited display and were extremely unfortunate to lose in Florence to a 92nd minute goal. Lazio outplayed Torino in Rome to move up to 4th in the Serie A standings. I reckon the home side can hold out for a draw.
Crotone vs Fiorentina
Crotone battled for their lives but were only able to keep a rampant Napoli side at bay for thirty minutes before the home side knocked three past them. Fiorentina huffed and puffed at the Cagliari goal for 90 minutes before finally breaking through in extra time to secure three vital points and keep their hopes of Europa League football alive. Away win expected.
Sampdoria vs Juventus
Sampdoria registered a historic away win over their City rivals to gift their supporters with local bragging rights for atleast the next six months. Juve moved one step closer to their sixth consecutive Scudetto as they beat old rivals Milan in controversial circumstances. I reckon Allegri’s men can maintain their winning. .
Udinese vs Palermo
Udinese made easy work of bottom side Pescara, winning 1-3 on their travels, and will hope for a similar outcome against 18th place Palermo who lost to Roma on Sunday evening in Sicily.
Roma vs Sassuolo
Roma were on form last Sunday as they comfortably knocked three past a struggling Palermo side to remain in second place. Sassuolo failed to take their chances and were beaten by Bologna in what was a rather drab affair. Comfortable home win expected.
Bologna vs Napoli
Bologna ended the game in extremely frustrating circumstances after they had two men sent off and also conceded a late goal to leave Sardinia with a point. Napoli huffed and puffed but couldn’t get the better of a stubborn Palermo side as Sarri’s men lost further points on league leaders Juve. I predict an away win.
Milan vs Sampdoria
Despite taking an early lead Milan’s youthful squad were punished for their mistakes and inefficiency in front of goal and lost 2-1 in Udine. Sampdoria were superb as they came from behind to beat Roma 3-2 in what was a great game of football. I reckon Montella’s men will get back to winning ways on Sunday.
Atalanta vs Cagliari
Both these sides had to fight back and earn a vital point in their respective games as the home side look to qualify for European football next season while the visitors target a mid-table finish. I predict a home win.
Empoli vs Torino
Empoli are eight points clear from the bottom three however still have a lot of work to do should they intend to avoid a relegation scrap come May. Torino fought hard and played out a 1-1 draw with Atalanta. I am backing another draw.
Genoa vs Sassuolo
Genoa showed some much needed determination and grit as they twice came from behind to hold Fiorentina to a 3-3 draw in what was a action packed encounter. Sassuolo were swept aside by a far superior Juve as they remained 16th in the standings after an extremely disappointing season for Di Francesco’s men. I predict a home win.
Pescara vs Lazio
Bottom side Pescara have had a torrid time in the Serie A, winning just one game to date and having collected just nine points. Lazio failed to make the most of their chances and paid the ultimate price as Chievo struck late at the Olimpico. This will be a close encounter but I reckon the visitors can get back to winning ways.
Palermo vs Crotone
Palermo secured a rare point on their Sunday evening trip to Naples while Crotone were finally awarded for their spirited performance after they beat fellow strugglers Empoli 4-1. This is a do-or-die for both sides but I reckon the game will end in a stalemate.
Juventus vs Inter
Juventus maintained their march towards their sixth consecutive Scudetto after a solid 0-2 win in Sassuolo while Inter won their seventh straight Serie A encounter to move up to fourth in the standings. I expect an extremely exciting game in Turin between two of Italy’s most in form sides but the visitor’s should just pip this.
Roma vs Fiorentina
Roma’s superb run of form came to an abrupt end on Sunday afternoon after they threw away their lead and lost 3-2 in Sampdoria. Fiorentina were also guilty of missing out last weekend as they allowed Genoa back into the game on two occasions as the game ended 3-3. Roma should have enough to win this.
