Inter vs Empoli
Inter were extremely poor as they failed to really challenge a more determined Lazio side in Rome and were eventually beaten 2-0. Empoli played out a 0-0 bore draw at home to Bologna to maintain their mid-table position and will look to take on as many lessons as they can following their mixed run of form this campaign. Inter have enough to win this.
Bologna vs Milan
Bologna seemed content on playing out a 0-0 draw in Empoli as they are all but safe from relegation and will look forward to more Serie A football next season. Milan were moments away from an embarrassing defeat in what has been a season to forget for the Nerazzurri, as a late Menez penalty secured a point for his side as the game ended 3-3. I reckon the home side have enough to hold out for a point.
Roma vs Chievo
Roma will once again be grateful for the influence of club legend Francesco Totti has on his team, since despite being 39 years old the talisman still has enough vigor to turn the tables in his sides favor as substitute performances in recent weeks have shown. Chievo fought hard and did well to hold a stuttering Fiorentina at home as the Giolloblu consolidate their 9th place position. Home win expected.
Atalanta vs Udinese
Bar a late consolation goal Atalanta failed to really threaten the Napoli backline as they were beaten down south. Udinese lost their 18th game of the season after they were thrashed 1-5 in front of a disgruntled home crowd. Just one point separates these two sides but I reckon the home side can pip this.
Carpi vs Lazio
After their 2-0 loss at the Juventus Stadium Carpi have been dragged into the relegation scrape once again following Palermo’s home win. Lazio showed rare signs of good football as they outplayed a disorganized Inter side at the Olimpico to give their fans something to cheer about after a poor season for the Biancocelesti. I predict an exciting game of football which will end in a draw.
Fiorentina vs Palermo
Fiorentina failed to make the most of their chances as they were held in Carpi as La Viola will most likely finish the season in 5th place. Palermo did their survival chances a world of good after beating Sampdoria at home to go level on points with 17th place Carpi. I am afraid the Sicilians will have little luck in Florence.
Frosinone vs Sassuolo
Despite playing for their lives Frosinone were undone by a late penalty in what would have been a historic victory for the Serie A newcomers, who are now four points from safety with just two games to go. Sassuolo did just enough to beat an already relegated Verona to all but secure Europa League football for next season. Close game expected which I expect will end in a draw.
Sampdoria vs Genoa
Both sides lost their respective games as Sampdoria were beaten by Palermo and Genoa lost at home after a Roma comeback. With just three points between these two struggling sides do not expect a great Derby della Lanterna however I am sure the game will not be missing any of it’s usual ferocity.
Verona vs Juventus
Verona were the first side in the league to be relegated from the Serie A in what has been a dismal season for the Gialloblu. Juventus are in party mode after securing their 5th consecutive title two weeks ago and I have no doubt they will win comfortably in this David vs Goliath affair.
Torino vs Napoli
Torino romped to a 1-5 win in Udine as they hope to end the season in a mid-table position after a very poor start. Napoli won at home a week after conceding the league to rivals Juventus. With Roma breathing down their backs for the all imporant second place Sarri’s men still need a win and I reckon they have enough to do so.
Udinese vs Torino
Despite taking an early lead Udinese were beaten 3-1 at the San Siro by a stronger Inter side. Torino were beaten by the same scoreline at home against Sassuolo in what has been a poor season for both these sides. Four points separate these two sides and I am going for a draw.
Chievo vs Fiorentina
Even though they lost to Atalanta on Saturday Chievo have had a much better campaign when compared to previous years and sit 8th in the standings. Fiorentina will feel slightly hard done by refereeing decisions, even though front man Kalinic almost missed a late penalty, as Juventus beat them in Florence. Close game expected but La Viola should have enough to win this.
Juventus vs Carpi
Juventus have won their 5th consecutive Scudetto after closest rivals Napoli lost at the Olimpico kick starting the celebrations for the Old Lady’s squad and supporters. Carpi made the most of their numerical advantage by beating Empoli at home to move three points clear of the bottom three. Despite the hangover Juve should have more than enough to down the visitors.
Milan vs Frosinone
Milan’s dire season continued as they threw away their early lead and eventually succumbed to the pressure of bottom side Verona. Frosinone paid for failing to take their chances as they lost the ‘six point’ battle with fellow strugglers Palermo and are now five points from safety. Home win expected.
Empoli vs Bologna
Empoli struggled in Carpi after playing for over an hour with ten men and were slowly broken down by the home side as their miserable run of form in 2016 continued. Bologna fought hard and can thank front men Giaccherini and Floccari for their brace which saw them move eight points above the drop zone. Neither side has set the world on fire this season and that is why I predict a bore draw.
Palermo vs Sampdoria
Palermo increased their chances of survival after beating Frosinone on their home soil and are now three points from safety. Sampdoria downed Lazio at home to reach the all-important 40 point mark and all but ensure Serie A football next season. I reckon the home side can win this.
Sassuolo vs Verona
Sassuolo did well to come from behind and beat Torino in Turin in what was their 7th away win of the season as the Neroverdi boast the 4th best away record in the Serie A. Despite their moral boasting win over Milan on Monday afternoon Del Neri’s side are technically relegated as they sit 10 points from safety with just three games to go. Home win expected.
Lazio vs Inter
Lazio’s inconsistent season continued as they were beaten by lowly Sampdoria while Inter came from behind to beat Udinese at home and keep their slim chances of Champions League football alive. I expect a close game at the Olimpico and expect a score draw.
Genoa vs Roma
Genoa are another side who will be disappointed with the number of silly points dropped as a slightly better run of form could have easily seen them qualify for Europa League football next season. After beating Napoli on Monday afternoon, Roma moved just two points off second spot while also all but secured a place in the Champions League next Autumn. Close game but the visitors should win this.
Napoli vs Atalanta
Napoli fell at the final hurdle at the Olimpico in what was an exciting game of football as Sarri’s men surrendered the title chase to the reigning champions Juventus and now also risk missing out on an automatic Champions League football next term. Atalanta can thank veteran front man Boriello for his second half strike which saw them earn three points over Chievo and confirm their Serie A status for another season. Napoli to win all the way.
Inter vs Udinese
Only a miracle will secure Inter a place in next years Champions League now as they lost on their travels to Genoa in what was a lackluster performance by Mancini’s men. Udinese have finally seemed to have woken up as they won two of their last four games just in time to avoid a late relegation scrape. Inter must bounce back.
Frosinone vs Palermo
Despite taking an early lead Frosinone could do little to hold a resurgent Chievo team at bay and were eventually pummeled 5-1. Palermo came from behind to hold out for an important point as they try and clamber out of the bottom three. This is a crucial game for both sides and I reckon the home side ca win this.
Atalanta vs Chievo
Atalanta have done just about enough to avoid the drop this season and their fans will be demanding an improvement next year. Chievo have surpassed all expectations and as just a handful of points off Europa League football. Close game expected which will end inf a draw.
Bologna vs Genoa
Bologna were ripped to shreds on their travels to Naples on Tuesday night however remain 6 points clear of the bottom three. Genoa rode their luck and made the most of their opportunities as they surprised Inter at Luigi Ferraris to move to 10th in the standings. Draw expected.
Sampdoria vs Lazio
Sampdoria will be pleased with their hard earned draw at Sassuolo while Lazio fought hard but eventually collapsed after being reduced to ten men at the Juventus Stadium. This will be a close game between two struggling sides which I predict will end in a draw.
Torino vs Sassuolo
Torino were moments away from securing a historic victory at the Olimpico until Roma’s legendary talisman Francesco Totti came off the bench to score two in quick succession to send Il Toro back north empty handed. Sassuolo were held at home by Sampdoria but I believe they can leave Torino with three points.
Fiorentina vs Juventus
Fiorentina’s inconsistent season continued as they lost on their travels in Udine to remain in 5th place. Juventus maintained their nine point lead at the top of the Serie A to all but secure their 5th consecutive Scudetto following a comfortable 3-0 win over Lazio. I reckon La Viola will be up for this and Juve will settle for a point.
Roma vs Napoli
Roma will be grateful to veteran front man Francesco Totti who came off the bench to score two in three minutes and spare his sides blushed, even though it seems he will be shown the door this summer. Napoli thrashed Bologna at home however their season’s target of challenging Juve for the league is all but lost as they lie 9 points behind the league leaders. I reckon an exciting draw is on the cards.
Verona vs Milan
Sitting ten points from safety with just five games to go Verona’s fate is all but sealed in what has been a disastrous season for the Veneto side. Milan were extremely poor as they were held at the San Siro by lowly Carpi in what was a bore draw. With nothing but pride to play for I reckon the home side can hold out for a draw.
Carpi vs Empoli
Carpi moved two points above the drop zone after holding Milan at bay while Empoli did just enough to down a sorry Verona side to consolidate their mid-table position. Carpi are still fighting for their lives and I predict a home win.
Napoli vs Bologna
Napoli’s season has gone up in smoke as they were beaten at the San Siro after failing to take their chances and now trail league leaders Juventus by nine points with just five games to go. Bologna are seven points above the relegation zone and all but safe this year. Home win expected.
Sassuolo vs Sampdoria
Sassuolo were comfortably beaten on their travels to Florence with goalkeeper Consigli what must be considered one of the strangest own goals of all time. Sampdoria fought hard but were eventually undone by a stronger Milan side in what has been a season to forget for La Samp. I am going for a home win.
Chievo vs Frosinone
Chievo were held on their travels to Udine while Frosinone were superb as they downed a poor Verona side 1-2 to keep their themselves within a point from safety. Chievo will fancy their chances.
Empoli vs Verona
Empoli’s disastrous run of form in 2016 continued as they lost to Lazio and slipped further down the standings. Verona will soon be mathematically relegated after losing to fellow strugglers Frosinone and now linger nine points from safety with just five games to go. Bore draw expected.
Genoa vs Inter
Genoa were pummeled on their travels to lowly Carpi in what has been an extremely inconsistent season for the Ligurians while Inter did well to beat second place Napoli at the San Siro, with captain Icardi scoring an early goal and setting up the other just before half time. I reckon the home side will fight hard and Mancini’s men will have to settle for a draw.
Juventus vs Lazio
Juve steamrolled over a toothless Palermo side as Allegri’s men are now just six points away from securing their 5th consecutive title. Lazio beat a poor Empoli at the Olimpico but I reckon the Old Lady will prove too much for them as they start their Scudetto celebrations.
Palermo vs Atalanta
Palermo look to be heading back down to Serie B after being completely overpowered by Juventus in Turin. Atalanta fought hard to come back from a two goal deficit to hold Roma to a draw in what was an exciting 3-3 draw meaning they are now six points above the bottom three. I predict a draw.
Roma vs Torino
Roma will be kicking themselves for letting a two goal lead slip through their fingers as they gave Inter a glimmer of hope of snatching that all important third spot. Torino won on their travels to Bologna in what was just their 11th win of the season in what is a season to forget for Il Toro. Home win expected.
Udinese vs Fiorentina
Udinese are risking their Serie A status after being held at home to Chievo in what has been a dire campaign for the Bianconeri. Fiorentina were relatively solid as they beat Sassuolo at home to keep the pressure on fourth place Inter. I reckon the home side will fight hard but La Viola should have enough to win this.
Milan vs Carpi
Milan won just their first Serie A game in over one and a half months as veteran front man Bacca grabbed a vital second half goal to secure the three points for the Rossoneri. Carpi were superb as they beat Genoa 4-1 to keep themselves just above the drop zone in what will be a tantalizing month of football for the Carpi fateful. I am backing newly appointed coach Brocchi to win his second game at the helm.
