Atalanta vs Juventus
Atalanta’s dream season continued as they beat Bologna on Saturday afternoon to remain in 5th place and look likely to securing Europa League football next term. Juventus took another step towards their 6th consecutive Scudetto with a comfortable 4-0 win over Genoa in which Allegri’s men were superb. I am backing the home side to hold out for a draw.
Torino vs Sampdoria
Torino fans would have expected better from their team this season considering the strength in their ranks, however coach Mihajlovic has a young side to build on. Despite young front man Schick scoring a superb goal, Sampdoria were unable to keep the backdoor shut and conceded two Crotone goals to lose 1-2. Home win expected.
Roma vs Lazio
Sunday’s early afternoon fixture sees one of two show stopping encounters in Gameweek 34, with the Roman derby taking centre stage. Spalletti’s men will feel that they did not quite reach their pre-season objective and despite all but securing second place, even the most ardent Roma supporter will have to admit that they are still second best to Juventus. Lazio on the otherhand have probably surpassed everyone’s expectations as they sit in 4th place and can definitely be proud of their season to date. I am backing the Giallorossi to win this.
Bologna vs Udinese
Eight points separate these two sides in what has been a season to forget for both of them. Despite all but securing their Serie A status for next season Bologna will have to up their game in order to avoid a relegation scrap next season, while Udinese will also be aiming to improve on their mid-table finish. I predict a score draw.
Cagliari vs Pescara
Both sides lost their respective fixtures last weekend, with the Sardinians losing out in Udine whilst Pescara were pummelled 1-4 at home by Roma and it is now pretty much impossible for them to survive the drop to Serie B. Home win expected.
Crotone vs Milan
It might be a little to late for Crotone who have collected almost as many points in the past three weeks as they did over the entire season. The Southerners are still five points from safety and time is running out. Milan were surprisingly beaten at home to 17th place Empoli but I am backing them to win on Sunday.
Empoli vs Sassuolo
Empoli were rewarded for their brave display with a historic win at the San Siro over the Rossoneri maintaining their five point breathing room over the bottom three. Sassuolo were very close to securing a historic result of their own, only for Napoli to bounce back and snatch a point. I predict a close game which will end in a draw.
Genoa vs Chievo
Genoa have had an extremely disappointing season, despite a few impressive wins over some of Serie A’s big guns they have paid for their inconsistency and sit 16th in the standings. Chievo are in a similar situation and will be grateful for their good run of form earlier on in the season which has spared them from any relegation scraps. Considering both these sides form, I expect a bore draw.
Palermo vs Fiorentina
Like Pescara, Palermo have been extremely poor this season and do not deserve to remain in the Serie A, winning just three games all season. Fiorentina came from behind to win by the odd goal in nine over Inter in what was an extremely entertaining game of football. Away win expected.
Inter vs Napoli
Despite Icardi grabbing his second hat trick in two months his side still left Florence empty handed as Inter’s season seems to be ending in disaster, having not won a game out of their last five. Despite most likely finishing third, Napoli will also be disappointed with their season, having fallen out of the title race fairly on. Sarri’s men still lack they killer instinct to compete with Juventus but I predict their quality will see them through on Sunday evening.
