AS Roma vs Udinese
Roma have picked up the momentum in the last two games and are showing signs of a strong side in the making. Pity for them that Schick seems to have a nagging injury, otherwise, Roma would be a powerhouse. This writer is quite a fan of Di Francesco’s tactics and their record vs Udinese in the last 4 at home are all wins with over 2.5 goals. This should not be any different as Udinese are an ok side but not enough to take 3 points away from Roma at home.
Roma to win outright -1.5 @ 1.725
Correct score prediction AS Roma 3 Udinese 1
Edin Dzeko to score 2 or more at 3.00
SPAL vs Napoli
Let’s just set this out straight, SPAL have no chance here. Napoli are by far the stronger side and score an absurd amount of goals whenever they want. They absolutely asphalted Lazio away mid-week in a show of power. They scored 3 goals in 9 minutes.
Unfortunately the only value in this game except Napoli to win -2.0 @ 1.95
Over 3.5 cards @ 1.95
Juventus vs Torino
Turin derby to end Saturday’s fixtures and this will be a tense affair as usual. Juventus will be missing De Sciglio, Howedes and Khedira all through injury. Lichtsteiner should take the right back role back from Sturaro, who started mid-week vs Fiorentina. Lots of changes will happen in comparison to the lineup Allegri fielded on Wednesday. Expect to see Lichtsteiner, Pjanic, Chiellini, Buffon, Alex Sandro all back in the squad. Allegri took risks on Wednesday but still got all the points. Juventus will have a tough outing here, especially with their defence looking a little shakier than recent years, but they will get the 3 points at home. Torino have their own issues with defending themselves and Higuain is gunning to get a couple of goals on his tally.
Juventus to win outright and over 2.5 goals @ 2.00
Correct score prediction Juventus 3 Torino 1
Higuain to score 2 or more @ 3.60 (THIS HAS TO HAPPEN SOME TIME SOON)
West Ham vs Tottenham
Early kick-off London derby at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday. Tottenham are on form at the moment. They seem to have some troubles at home but it is clear they are a strong team. They’ve had some strong appearances away from home too which is a good thing for Saturday’s game. West Ham have been a bit erratic in the league (slightly better in Cup games). They do however have a good record against Tottenham at home so this one wont be a walk in the park for The Spurs.
Tottenham to win outright @ 1.60
Correct score prediction West Ham 1 Tottenham 2
Card before 29:00 @ 1.83
Burnley vs Huddersfield
The away side are just not good enough. They have really struggled the last three games and Burnley are turning out to be a tough cookie. Home side should take 3 points here. Form at home vs Huddersfield also shows a strong case
Burnley to win outright @ 2.05
Correct score prediction Burnley 2 Huddersfield 0
Everton vs Bournemouth
Everton have been a disappointment until now. Their injury list is worryingly long and it will be a while until the list gets shorter. Meanwhile Koeman’s men need to grind it out at Goodison Park. Everton also have a good record at home against Bournemouth and they should get their first win in EPL in 3 games.
Everton to win and over 2.5 goals @ 2.50
Correct score prediction Everton 3 Bournemouth 1
Wayne Rooney to score anytime @ 2.37
Man City vs Crystal Palace
If things weren’t already bad enough for Crystal Palace, they’ve now lost their manager and will also be facing the most prolific scorers in the Premier League in Man City. Man City score 15 goals in 3 games last week, let that sink in.
No value on a man city win
Correct score prediction Man City 4 Crystal Palace 0
Gabriel Jesus to score 2 or more at 3.00
Southampton vs Man Utd
Man Utd are fresh off a great win against Everton at the weekend and a mid-week bashing of Burton in the Cup game. They will however miss a crucial part of their midfield as Pogba is out for a few more weeks. This fixture was never an easy ride for Man Utd but they usually come out with some points. Southampton simply can’t score many goals and they are really struggling in front of goal. However at some point this has to change.
Both teams to score @ 1.95
Correct score prediction Southampton 1 Man Utd 2
Over 5 first half Asian corners @ 2.00
Stoke City vs Chelsea
Chelsea are the stronger side. However Stoke are a thorn in anyone’s backside. The last 5 between these two at the Bet365 stadium have produced close encounters. Chelsea are on form and almost full team (except David Luiz who is suspended for this game – red card). Drinkwater and Pedro are also out through suspension and red card.
Chelsea to win outright @ 1.60
Correct score prediction Stoke City 1 Chelsea 3
Card before 31:00 @ 1.83
Morata to score anytime @ 1.95
Swansea vs Watford
Low scoring encounters usually between these two. The last 5 encountres have all been under 2.5. Watford still remain a decent side and tomorrow both teams will cancel out each other
Draw game @ 3.25
Correct score prediction Swansea 1 Watford 1
Under 2.5 goals @ 1.70
Leicester vs Liverpool
Leicester have just beaten Liverpool in the same fixture as a cup game on Wednesday. Liverpool are desperate for a win as they haven’t won in their last 4 matches. Leicester know the formula to win. This one will produce goals and a battle so probably game of the week for this writer.
Both teams to score and over 2.5 @ 2.00
Correct score prediction Leicester 1 Liverpool 2
Coutinho to score any time @ 2.87
Brighton vs Newcastle
Well balanced game with Newcastle looking like the stronger side if we had to look at form. After a horrendous start, the magpies look to gain more momentum coming into this game. Brighton on the other hand have held their own against Newcastle in the last 2 out of 3 wins at home.
Draw game @ 3.10
Correct score prediction Brighton 1 Newcastle 1
Over 4.5 first half Asian corners @ 2.00
Arsenal vs West Brom
What an injury list for both teams ! Arsenal looked dominant during the cup game this week vs Doncaster but again failed to hit the net more than once. It is becoming an issue for them to finalise their chances and this is why Arsenal are not consistently winning games. Arsenal have an excellent record against West Brom at the Emirates stadium and this one should be no different.
Arsenal to win -1.5 @ 2.10
Correct score prediction Arsenal 3 West Brom 0
Card before 34:00 @ 1.83
All the Serie A predictions for Week 4 will be posted on our Facebook Group.
All the predictions for Week 5 will be posted on our Facebook Group.
Juventus vs Chievo
First fixture of the weekend for the Serie A kicks off at the Allianz Stadium in Turin at 6pm on Saturday. This stadium is a stronghold for Juventus and they score regularly at home. Barzagli will probably be out of this one through rest and Chiellini is out through a calf injury and hoping to recover for the Barcelona game mid-week. Allegri has already said the Sceszny will substitute Buffon in goal and that Matuidi will start. Expect some more changes after International break. Plenty of goals in this one and Higuain to shine.
Sampdoria vs Roma
Tough away fixture for Di Francesco’s men. Having lost a match they deserved to win against Inter 2 weeks ago, Roma have meanwhile signed a great attacking midfielder in Schick. Sampdoria have a very good record against Roma at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. This should not be underestimated. This game also produces many goals.
Inter vs SPAL
Inter look strong this season and it seems they will manage to break the top 4 (perhaps aim for 3rd place). Two games on the trot and looking very strong upfront. We’re still not convinced about the defensive end though. Newcomers SPAL have managed a win at home and a gutsy draw away to Lazio in the first two weeks of Serie A. They have Boriello upfront. They won’t win this one but may get a goal in.
Atalanta vs Sassuolo
We really like Atalanta at home. They are a very solid side and have shown so during their first 2 matches of the season even though they returned two losses. They managed to keep Spinazzola through the transfer window but he will miss this match along with Schmidt.
Cagliari vs Crotone
Not an exciting fixture this one. Cagliari have an excellent record against Crotone winning the last 4 games at the Sant’Elia. Van Der Wiel will be out of this one through injury.
Lazio vs Milan
Fixture of the week in Serie A in week 3 is this game. Both teams aspiring for the top 4 places. Milan showed great character against Cagliari last game and will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run. Lazio on the other hand will be missing Marchetti and Felipe Anderson, both injured. Lazio home to Milan has resulted in both teams to score in the last 5 encounters. This will be a thrilling match
Udinese vs Genoa
Two resilient sides here at the Dacia Arena and lots of tackles in this one.
Verona vs Fiorentina
Both teams desperate for points here. Saponara out for Fiorentina and Cerci out for Verona (unless he makes a last minute recovery).
Benevento vs Torino
No previous meetings between these two. Lazaar will be out for Benevento and no significant changes on the injury list for Torino with Boye and Valdifiori still out long term. Torino look like a very exciting side but always fail to capitalise. Bellotti and Ljajic upfront should rack in the goals and it’s about time they win a convincing game.
Bologna vs Napoli
Napoli are on form and they are really aspiring to challenge Juventus at the top. They need to win here but have had mixed results against Bologna away throughout the years. They’ve only managed 2 wins out of the last 5 here at the Dall’Ara. Bologna are injury plagued at the moment so that will influence. Napoli have a mid-week champions league fixture to think about but their priority will be 3 point here
Man City vs Liverpool
Big game to start week 4 in the premier league. Interesting head to head as Man City are strong at home but weak against Liverpool who have had the better of them in 3 of the last 5. Raheem Sterling is out through suspension and Gundogan probably through injury. For Liverpool, they still miss Lallana and a match fitness last second decision for Ings. Both teams have scored in the last 5 with Man City at home. Both teams are coming off good wins but may feel the brunt of the international break. Oxlade-Chamberlain is expected to play in this one.
Arsenal vs Bournemouth
We expect a statement game from Arsenal in this one. International break will not help for player fatigue but it’s still the beginning of the season and after an embarrassing start to the season, Arsene has a lot to prove in this game. Cazorla is out indefinitely with an achilles injury. Chambers and Iwobi also in doubt. Only two previous encounters at the Emirates for these two and Arsenal won both convincingly. Arsenal are the stronger team but we have seen stranger things happen.
Brighton vs West Brom
Not the most appealing of fixtures but hard fought points to be won here nevertheless. Lots of injuries for Brighton and none of the teams will really be undermined by International break. Lots of corners perhaps in this one and little goals
Everton vs Tottenham
Everton are absolutely swamped by injuries and Tottenham have Danny Rose suffering from a knee injury. They’ve managed to sign Llorente from Swansea and Aurier from PSG. Two good signings for Pochettino as he looks to put some energy back into the team after a disappointing start to the campaign. Koeman will be hoping Rooney is not distracted by the media attention these last two weeks.
Leicester City vs Chelsea
After a shaky day 1 in this year’s campaign, Chelsea brought the mojo back with 2 good wins and Antonio Conte will be looking to get 3 points out of this tricky fixture at the King Power on Saturday. Leicester will be missing Ibarro and most likely will be without Huth. For Chelsea, Cahill will sit his 3rd and final game after a red card suspension. Expect an attacking game with Leicester, the home side, making the first move.
Southampton vs Watford
Interesting fixture here at the St. Mary’s on Saturday. Southampton have had a decent start to their campaign with Gabbiadini getting on the scoresheet twice already. Watford are a good side and are unbeaten in the last 3 in the Premier League. Watford’s injury list is nothing short of impressive and this writer is really looking forward to seeing them back at full strength.
Stoke vs Man Utd
The Bet365 stadium hosts the most in-form team in the Premier League, Man Utd. Mourinho’s men would have had an extremely busy week with 80% of the squad out on international duty. There hasn’t been much time to prepare this game. This away game for Man Utd has not been a happy one at all. They haven’t managed a win here since a cup game in 2013 but are they too strong a side for Stoke to contain? Stoke have 1 W 1 D and 1 L this season. With the win coming at home to Arsenal in a 1-0 where they held their own. Fletcher will probably miss this one through a knee injury and Afellay is definitely out. Will Stoke manage to give Man Utd their first goal ? we think so
Burnley vs Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace have been absolutely abysmal. Zero goals score in this campaign. In all fairness, their injury list is long and it includes their best striker. This game doesn’t look good either for them. Having said that, it doesn’t look good for Burnley either. D-L-W is their current form so it doesn’t inspire this writer.
Swansea vs Newcastle
Swansea have lost their best striker in Llorente (Tottenham) and Newcastle have found some form of rhythm winning their cup game and their last league game. This could be an interesting encounter. Swansea have good results against Newcastle at home winning 3 of the last 4 vs Newcastle at the liberty stadium. Shelvey will sit his last game through suspension.
West Ham vs Huddersfield
Not a glam Monday night fixture but interesting one nonetheless. West Ham really have to win this one if they want to aspire to a mid-table place this season. Arnautovic and Carroll will be out for this one and this means a low scoring affair for West Ham unless they can pull a swift one.
Get in on the Serie A action – Week 2
Benevento vs Bologna
Bologna showed a good side last week vs Torino and held their nerve against a determined Granata side that is poised to place 6th or 7th this season. Benevento on the other hand took the lead against Sampdoria only to succumb to a stronger home side and lose 2-1 in the end. These two have never met head to head at any competitive level. We prefer Bologna’s attacking players in this one.
Genoa vs Juventus
Juventus have had a great start to their Serie A campaign, completely flattening Cagliari in a convincing 3-0 win at home. Genoa had a boring draw against Sassuolo and either side couldn’t finish off their actions. There hasn’t been a draw in this fixture since 2013 and we don’t think this will be any different. Allegri will field his best side and probably make a slight change from last Saturday’s game. Juric will keep his side intact. Genoa have upset Juve before on their home ground but there are no mid-week distractions or squad rotations in this one so a convincing win for Juventus is lined up.
Roma vs Inter
Match of the week at the Olimpico on Saturday night. A Roma side that has apparently weakened since the summer transfers have gone through and a strengthened Inter side with Roma’s ex coach. A lot has changed in terms of squad for Inter. Spalletti has tried to give them an attacking mentality and has sought to patch the defensive blunders and weaknesses that Inter has been the victim of in the last 5 years. Roma, at home, are a formidable side and their record at home against Inter in the Serie A is quite good. Roma have managed to average 2 goals against Inter at home and have won 3 of the last 3 with the other 3 being draw games.
Torino vs Sassuolo
Both teams coming off disappointing draws in the first week. Both could have done better and will be hoping to do so in this fixture. Torino are very strong at home and are an attacking side with Ljajic and Bellotti. No major injuries since last week. Mihajlovic will be firing up his squad for this one.
AC Milan vs Cagliari
Milan showed us a good attacking mindset in their previous fixtures this year. Cagliari are coming off a bashing against Juventus and are away again this weekend (2 away starts). We don’t see much happening for Cagliari in this one. Milan will be with a full squad and we expect them to be winners in this one, quite convincingly.
Chievo vs Lazio
Not as easy a fixture to predict as you might think. Chievo have a good team and are strong at home. Their head to head vs Lazio is also something they are quite proud of. Lazio do not fare well at this stadium and the last win came 3 years ago. Lazio have the stronger team but after their great showing against Juventus in the super cup, they disappointed with a home draw against SPAL without goals.
Crotone vs Verona
Crotone are poor and will miss their starting defender (red card last week through VAR). Verona looked like a decent side against Napoli but their away game is not always a good story. Verona still have the stronger side and upfront they can score more.
Fiorentina vs Sampdoria
Fiorentina got a real bashing last week in the opener against Inter. They return home but we are still not convinced about their current squad. Chiesa will be back from suspension and Simeone will hope to get his first goal. Sampdoria had a good comeback win last weekend and will hope to build on confidence in this one. A few injuries on their team but they still gave a great show.
Napoli vs Atalanta
Napoli return to base after a good win against Nice in the champions league. They’ve had a busy 2 weeks but always seem to have lots of energy and are a scoring juggernaut. Atalanta we unlucky not to get at least a point at home against Roma. Hysaj will miss this one because of a red card against Verona last week. This is Napoli’s first home game in Serie A this season and they will not want to disappoint their fans. Atalanta have now solved the Spinazzola issue but I doubt he will be part of this match.
SPAL vs Udinese
Not an exciting encounter at all. SPAL managed a decent draw against Lazio away next week and meet Udinese at home this weekend. Udinese lost to Chievo at home last weekend and are looking to build on that and get better. No previous h2h encounters on this one and we think the away team is better and can snatch a win
Premier League Saturday and Sunday games
AFC Bournemouth vs Manchester City
Must win game for Man City as is any game for a team aspiring to take the Premier League title. A draw at Everton means a 2 point gap at the top already and no team can afford to start losing points already. Especially when that team spent over £200m to get the players needed to compete. Bournemouth come off a competitive EFL Cup game on Tuesday so there is the factor of squad rotation in this one for the home side. Kyle Walker will be out through suspension for this one and Mendy might be back in full fitness to start.
Crystal Palace vs Swansea City
Not looking good in the Premier League this season for both these teams. More than likely, Swansea will be without their main strikers as they are out with long term injuries. Both teams have scored zero goals in this campaign and are looking to get over that psychological hump. Their defensive woes also continue with both teams having allowed 4 goals in the first two games. The stats couldn’t be closer for each of these. This may be the breakout game for both teams looking to get crucial points to help them salvage at the end of the season. Make no mistake, this is a direct relegation encounter.
Huddersfield Town vs Southampton
A good start to the season by Huddersfield with 2 convincing wins and ease at scoring goals. The EFL Cup on Wednesday against Rotherham will probably bring along a squad rotation, seeing that Saturday’s game against Southampton should take priority. Huddersfield have shown potential to be able to remain in the Premier League. Southampton, usually find it difficult to score and if it weren’t for a late penalty on Saturday, Southampton would have lost a 2-0 comfortable lead. These two teams usually have many goals when they go head to head and both rely on home advantage to win their games
Newcastle United vs West Ham United
This is not looking good for Newcastle unless they can really pull a rabbit out of the hat. Benitez looks visibly annoyed that the transfer market has not yielded what he hoped for and the situation upfront for Newcastle looks bleak. West Ham had a good comeback at the weekend and almost managed a draw at Southampton after being 2-0 down. West Ham have won their mid-week EFL fixture whilst Newcastle will meet Nottingham Forest whilst this prediction is being written.
This could go either way but we will take the outsider.
Watford vs Brighton & Hove Albion
This is the first Premiership matchup between these two in their history. All previous encounters were either cup games or Championship games. Watford are actually looking like a good side that can feel safe about their Premier League spot this season and next. We also think they’re a really good side at home. Their record against Brighton is also a good one as they haven’t lost in their last 5 encounters, winning 3 of those.
Manchester United vs Leicester City
Manchester United start the season on an impressive form. 8 goals scored and 0 conceded. On the other hand Leicester have also shown prowess in front of goal but have also been easy at conceding. Their mid-week EFL cup game looked easy and this is perhaps a great time for these two sides to meet.
Chelsea vs Everton
Sunday’s early fixture features two teams of calibre. Probably the second best fixture of the week for this writer. Both blues will be likely to consider this as a crucial match. Chelsea to remain in touch at the top and Everton to aspire to break into the top 6. Everton had a tough Monday night managing a 1-1 draw at Goodison park in a hard-fought card rich match. This one will be no different. Antonio Conte will be riding high after a good win away to Tottenham on Sunday. Much needed confidence boost after their season opener.
Cahill and Hazard still out of this one through suspension and injury respectively. Scheiderlin out through suspension for Everton whilst Ramirez and McCarthy struggle to get back from injuries.
West Bromwich Albion vs Stoke City
Two mid tier sides at best. Both these teams will look for the 3 points here. Stoke City have had a really good win at Arsenal’s expense last weekend and look to build on this
Not many goals in this one and typical draw game
Draw game @ 3.10
Correct score prediction WBA 1 Stoke City 1
Liverpool vs Arsenal
Best fixture of week 3 right here. Both teams will try their utmost for 3 points here as it could literally put them out of the title race after just 3 games. Liverpool will meet Hoffenhiem today and that means 2 really important games in less than 5 days. This on has had an average of 5.7 goals per game in the last three encounters. Vital for Arsenal to get 3 points here. The Coutinho and Alexis Sanchez saga continues into it’s 4th week. Barcelona are simply not giving up here. This will be a thrilling encounter and rightly so, Sunday prime time.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Burnley
Tottenham have now lost 8 of their last 10 games at Wembley stadium. This is their home pitch for the rest of the season at the least until they build their new stadium. Luckily for them, a chance to beat one of their favourite opponents. In fact, Tottenham have won 5 straight against Burnley when at home (except this isn’t really home). All the last 5 games had more than 2.5 goals in them. Tottenham to score lots of goals and get their confidence back in this one.
For today’s EFL Cup games we won’t predict individual matches but will go for a both teams to score treble. This one looks nice. Let’s not forget that Premier League teams will not go into these matches with their full squad and this is where they will give time to some younger players to shine.
